Born May 4, 1938 in Greenville, Mississippi, Tyrone Davis is considered the "king of romantic Chicago soul". He moved to Chicago in 1959, where he found work as a valet for bluesman Freddie King. Eventually, Davis began singing in clubs on the city's West and South Sides, and by 1965 he had signed to the Four Brothers label.. Three years later, Davis moved to producer Carl Davis' Dakar Records and earned his first hit, "Can I Change My Mind," when a local DJ played the B-side of his Dakar debut. The song went to Number One on the R&B charts, and hit the pop Top Five. In the Seventies, he scored other R&B chart-toppers with "Turn Back the Hands of Time" and "Turning Point" before switching to Columbia Records and discofying his soul. It was his smooth bedroom ballads like "In The Mood", however, that burned up the charts. Davis went onto record successfully on various labels like Ichiban and Malaco up to his death. He is one of the most imitated soul singers of the modern era.

The first CD from the Hildegard Knef album edition contains the two original albums "Und Ich Dreh' Mich Nochmal Um" (1972) and "Ich Bin Den Weiten Weg Gegangen" (1974). The Knef of the early seventies turned around for a short time and then continued on her first two Philips albums with the changing time spirit. Instead of Schlager and Swing, she sang sensitive, reflected ballads, became Germany's first singer-songwriter. Both albums were created in the tried and tested team with Hans Hammerschmid (composition & arrangement) and husband David Cameron (production).

50:31 | Folk Rock, Psychedelic Rock | Label: Seelie Court Digital

Stellar Progressive Psychedelic Folk Rock with a huge Syd Barrett influence and lashings of distorted fuzz guitar vying with down the rabbit hole Barrettesque psychedelic ballads, a genuine left field underground masterpiece, and incredibly rare. It's unknown how many were really made in 1971 on the custom Deroy label - it had a finished sleeve but the labels were generic Deroy printings with blank spaces for the artists to handwrite their names and titles, and only one copy seems to be known, so Parameter could have been a 25 copy press like the inferior Moths LP. Galactic Ramble is a ramble through the experimental minds and philosophies of early seventies underground youth, questioning reality and senses, laden with pre Raphaelite poesie, and born in the morass of early Floyd, ISB, Cream and Donovan, tracks range from the Christina Rossetti meets Syd Barrett 'Virgin Childe' (note the essential Arnoldian "e") to the climactic Fuzz- Soaked wailing guitar distortions of the title track. Things go wonky at times, but the sheer visionary power of this masterpiece makes it a Sacred Classic of the British Underground. And one of the most elegantly perfect sleeve designs of the era. From it's inception Parameter was destined to reach only the select few. Recommended especially to anyone aching for more music like The Madcap Laughs
