The box set's extensive liner notes by Poss include anecdotes and insights into the artists and times that shaped Sugar Hill's legacy. Liners also include a historical perspective from Country Music Hall of Fame's Jay Orr, as well as artist reflections on the label and Poss.

Still/The Joint: Sugar Hill Remixed is a 2CD remix project exploring the hip-hop label Sugar Hill Records. Released in 1999, it is a UK-only release featuring remixes by Coldcut, The Wiseguys, Nightmares On Wax, Scratch Perverts, Roots Manuva, and many more. This was released by Castle Music.

Mike Seeger, along with his wife Alexia Smith and filmmaker Yasha Aginsky, trekked through the Appalachian Mountains in 2009 to produce this extraordinary glimpse of the vigor and diversity of the region’s old-time banjo artistry. When Seeger passed away later that same year, the project took on the added importance of paying tribute to this renowned musician, folklorist, and documentarian of the people.

Once again also in this year, the two label makers have put together two fine dj mixes, featuring a fantastic selection of current as well as previously unreleased tunes, musically located between Balearic house and deep house, spreading the Ibiza vibe acoustically in perfection. 1971 stands as an odd, rather surreal year in British pop history: while American soft-rockers and singer-songwriters were dominating the album charts, the year in which the country ch-ch-changed over to decimal currency saw the homegrown pop/rock scene becoming increasingly eccentric.

The formation of Peacock Records in late 1949 dates back to an event nearly three years earlier when a young guitarist called Clarence 'Gatemouth' Brown saw his chance to grab the spotlight - and took it with both hands! 'Gate' had never been backward in coming forward. When legendary bluesman T-Bone Walker fell ill in mid-performance, he leapt up, picked up the guitar left on the stage and started playing his own 'Gatemouth Boogie'. 15 minutes later a star was born. The owner of the club, Don Robey, ensured the young upstart put his autograph on a management contact. Robey would eventually found Peacock Records to release his music, and that's where the label's history starts.
