THE BRILL BUILDING is an 11-story Art Deco office block, at 1619 Broadway, Manhattan, where the songwriters who shaped 1950s and 60s R&R, R&B and Pop music wrote, demoed and published their songs.
The 'First Team' comprised seven songwriting duos: Jerry Leiber & Mike Stoller, Gerry Goffin & Carole King, Doc Pomus & Mort Shuman, Neil Sedaka & Howard Greenfield, Burt Bacharach & Hal David, Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil, and Jeff Barry & Ellie Greenwich.
Other significant Brill Building songwriters included Ben Raleigh, Jack Keller, Bob Hilliard, Phil Spector, Paul Evans, Hank Hunter, Helen Miller, Tony Powers, Larry Kolber, Paul Hampton, Mark Barkan, Bobby Darin, Rose Marie McCoy and others.
The companion to three further Jasmine Brill Building compilations, this volume is an 'ALL BRITS EDITION', and features household names like Billy Fury, Marty Wilde, Cliff Richard, Emile Ford, Joe Brown, Lonnie Donegan, Alma Cogan, Adam Faith, Helen Shapiro, Kenny Lynch and many more.

Released in 1993 by ERA Records, this is a 4-disc compilation of 74 hit songs from 1959 through 1966 from artists like Bobby Darin, Neil Sedaka, Dion & the Belmonts, Tommy James & the Shondells, the Drifters, and many more. (See image for track listing.) Includes 32-page booklet with rare photos.

Girlville: New Songs in the Style of Yesterdays album for sale Young and Frank Buttgereit, Countryman wrote 19 songs from the point of view of a 16-year-old girl, living back in the early '60s.

Another classic instalment of "The Girl Group Sound", this 30-track set is Jasmine's long awaited follow up to 'Love Charms - West Coast hits and rarities from California Girls & Groups 1957-1962' (JASCD963), however, this time around the tracks are from the US East Coast, taking in New York, Philadelphia, Detroit and Chicago.

Phillip Spector was an American record producer and songwriter. He is best known for his innovative recording practices in the 1960s and development of the Wall of Sound, a production style that is characterized for its diffusion of tone colors and dense orchestral sound, which he described as a "Wagnerian" approach to rock and roll. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in pop music history and one of the most successful producers of the 1960s. In the 2000s, Spector was tried for and convicted of murder and sentenced to 19 years in prison for the homicide of model and actress Lana Clarkson.
