Sira Hernández präsentiert eine wunderbare Reise durch das große Werk von Dante Alighieri und bietet ein kolossales Werk für Klavier solo in drei Teilen, der Hölle, dem Fegefeuer und dem Paradies, die wiederum in jeweils sechs Teile unterteilt sind, die der Struktur von Dantes Werk folgen. Renowned GRAMMY-nominated band Gov’t Mule has announced their new studio album, Peace…Like A River, will be released this summer and has shared the first single “Dreaming Out Loud,” featuring Ivan Neville and Ruthie Foster. For the stirring new song, GRAMMY Award-winning vocalist, songwriter, guitar legend, and producer Warren Haynes wove together inspirational quotes from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Robert and John Kennedy, and the late civil rights leader and U.S. Representative John Lewis. Peace…Like A River is the band’s 12th studio album and follow-up to their chart-topping, Grammy-nominated blues album, Heavy Load Blues. The 12-song rock collection also features guest appearances from Billy Bob Thornton, Celisse, and Billy F Gibbons. In addition, the Peace…Like A River Deluxe Edition (available on CD only) includes the original 12-track album plus the special 5-track Time Of The Signs Bonus EP, which features four brand-new, unreleased tracks and an alternate version of the album track “The River Only Flows One Way,” with Warren taking lead vocals.

“Welcome to the start of the King Crimson 1984 tour of America I hope you know some of these songs and note the discrepancies and applaud our bravery afterwards” says Belew. The band take a little bit of time to bed down on this opening gig, ironing out a few wrinkles on the fly as is customary on these opening shows.A storming version of industry with Belew at his pointillistic, abstract best, coaxing all manner of elliptical sounds which are probably not recommended by the makers of the guitar or his pedalboard set-up. The track creates its own space and time in which Crimson glowers and scowls. Belew’s distorted voice in the verse sections of Dig Me continues the brooding intense atmosphere. There’s a sprightly yet thunderous rendition of Sleepless to savour although Man With An Open Heart has a heart-stopping moment as Belew realises he’s using the wrong guitar and the song has to be restarted. Also of interest is a wild Sartori and a rumbling version of Discipline.The quality of this audience recording isn’t too shabby though close listening reveals there’s something of an ongoing albeit enthusiastic commentary in the quieter sections.

In this piece, Britten’s rich, yearning harmonies reveal a sombre and dramatic warning of the cost of conflict.From the darkness of war, we move towards the light with Britten’s choral Spring Symphony. With its mysterious reimagining of traditional English folk song and verse, the work depicts the gradual reawakening of the natural world when winter ebbs away, and spring begins to triumph.Britten let his imagination catch fire in The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra. This brilliantly original showpiece is one of the composer’s best-known pieces, and draws the album to a close.

“So you like that weird stuff?” asks Ade after an exceptionally good rendition of Industry. “Well here’s some more”[endtease]he quips before launching into Dig, arguably one of the most musically schizophrenic tracks King Crimson have ever recorded. In concert, those opposing factions – pop song colliding against atonal slabs of noise terror – seem even more stark and contradictory than they ever did in the studio.

Robert Schumann knew exactly who was listening in secret to his Fantasie in C major (Op.17) when he inscribed this verse by the poet and philosopher Friedrich Schlegel at the head of the published score in 1839. When he composed the magisterial work in 1836 Schumann was in a state of utter despair: he wanted marry the brilliant young pianist Clara Wieck with whom he was secretly engaged but who was nine years his junior.

This programme focuses on the verse anthems of two leading musicians from the Restoration period’s church music revival. They stand as representatives of two generations who were deeply marked by the troubled socio-political context of early Stuart England, and both found their creativity temporarily restricted and sacrificed on the altar of Puritanism. Matthew Locke (ca 1621-1677) received his first musical training as a chorister at the cathedral of his native Exeter. During the turbulent years of the English Civil War, he went into exile in the Netherlands, a hive of Italianism, where he became familiar with the ultramontane style and probably converted to Catholicism.
