Velvet Song

The Best of The Velvet Underground: The Millennium Collection is a compilation album by The Velvet Underground. It was initially released for the North American market by Polydor in October 2000 as part of their "20th Century Masters" series of budget compilations celebrating the turn of the century.

After the Velvet Underground cut three albums for Verve Records that earned them lots of notoriety but negligible sales, the group signed with industry powerhouse Atlantic Records in 1970; label head Ahmet Ertegun supposedly asked Lou Reed to avoid sex and drugs in his songs, and instead make an album "loaded with hits." …

With his kaleidoscopic jams and stark reveries, Velvet Negroni's Jeremy Nutzman explores the psychedelic side of R&B. An African-American raised by white evangelical parents who kept him from secular music while he was growing up, Nutzman brings a fresh perspective to familiar sounds, imbuing his songs with a haunting distance and surprising juxtapositions on 2019's Neon Brown. Born and raised in Minnesota, Nutzman was adopted into a white evangelical family at a young age.

"Velvet Gloves and Spit" is the third album by Neil Diamond. His first for MCA's Uni label, it included three low-charting singles: "Brooklyn Roads" (#58), "Two-Bit Manchild" (#66) and "Sunday Sun" (#68). Upon its initial release in 1968, it only had ten songs. After the success of Diamond's next three albums, it was re-issued in 1970 with a new sleeve and now included a remake of "Shilo", a song that had previously been recorded for Bang Records, and had appeared on the preceding album, "Just For You".
