Jean-Claude Petit is a French composer and arranger, born in Vaires-sur-Marne. After accompanying jazzmen in his childhood, Petit went to the Conservatoire de Paris, where he studied harmony and counterpoint. He did the string arrangements for Mink DeVille's Le Chat Bleu album, as well as orchestrating the backing parts to some French pop singles in the mid-to-late 1960s, including those of Erick Saint-Laurent and yé-yé girls Christine Pilzer and Monique Thubert…

Brendan Croker is a musician from Leeds who has recorded albums under his own name and with occasional backing band; The Five O'Clock Shadows. He was also a member of The Notting Hillbillies. During the late 1980s he was an auxiliary member of The Mekons and a full-time member of Sally Timms and the Drifting Cowgirls. He has recorded with Eric Clapton, Tanita Tikaram, Mark Knopfler, Kevin Coyne, and Chet Atkins. Guy Edward Fletcher is an English multi-instrumentalist, best known for his position as the Synthesizer player in the rock band Dire Straits from 1984 until the group's dissolution, and his involvement in many parts of Mark Knopfler's solo work.

When Verve issued "The Complete Bill Evans on Verve" in 1997 they elected not to include this album even though all the other Evans MGM releases had been. Peter Pettinger's excellent bio of the pianist reveals Evans had mixed feelings about the romantic, commercial sound of the album, so perhaps Verve initially wanted to keep these mostly non-jazz tracks off the 18-CD set. But now here they are as part of Verve's "Originals" series, with a reproduction of the front and back of the LP as part of the packaging. The master tapes have suffered some deterioration over the years, but it is good to have this missing link in the Evans/Verve discography back in circulation.
