In 1973, the best-selling album in America was The World Is a Ghetto by WAR. This fall, the multi-ethnic SoCal band is giving fans a new way to experience its mega-million-selling classic with a new 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition available exclusively for Record Store Day Black Friday.

War was the original jam band; their music is a thick stew of stone funk, old school R&B, Latin rhythms, free-form jazz and uncanny pop sensibility. Their late ’72 album release The World Is A Ghetto, led by the title track and the smash hit “The Cisco Kid,” became the best-selling pop album of 1973. To commemorate the album’s place in pop music history, Avenue Records and UMe have remastered the album and included unreleased bonus “Ghetto Jams,” showcasing more of the band’s versatility. The World Is A Ghetto now includes the chugging “Freight Train Jam,” “58 Blues” and the rock-blues track “War Is Coming”.

Cold War Kids is an American indie rock band from Long Beach, California. "Audience" is the 16-track live collection recorded during a show in Athens, Georgia.

The War on Drugs are releasing a new live album next month. Appropriately titled LIVE DRUGS, it’s set to arrive on November 20 via Adam Granduciel’s label Super High Quality Records. The collection isn’t culled from one live show, but rather a series of sets curated from 40 of Granduciel’s hard drives.

“DECCA has used the most recent digital and Cedar technology to improve the original sound, under the overall supervision of veteran technician James Lock. This is one of the great performances of recording history.” Over half a century has passed since this classic DECCA recording was made in Kingsway Hall, London in January 1963. While the performance remains a benchmark, time has left the original analogue master tapes more fragile than ever.

The War Requiem, Op. 66, is a large-scale, non-liturgical setting of the Requiem composed by Benjamin Britten mostly in 1961 and completed in January 1962. The War Requiem was performed for the consecration of the new Coventry Cathedral, which was built after the original fourteenth-century structure was destroyed in a World War II bombing raid. The traditional Latin texts are interspersed, in telling juxtaposition, with settings of poems by Wilfred Owen, written in World War I.

Leonard Bernstein's Concert for Peace, a protest at the Vietnam War, took place in Washington Cathedral during January 1973 and featured a spellbinding performance of Joseph Haydn's Mass in Time of War. Here it's coupled with Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic's reading of Haydn's Symphony No. 96, "Miracle". Both were remastered from the original analogue tapes (stereo and quadraphonic).
