Born in Lanowitz, a small village in rural Podolia, Rokhl Auerbach was a journalist, literary critic, memoirist, and a member of the Warsaw Yiddish literary community before the Holocaust. Upon the German invasion and occupation of Poland in 1939, she was tasked by historian and social activist Emanuel Ringelblum to run a soup kitchen for the starving inhabitants of the Warsaw Ghetto and later to join his top-secret ghetto archive, the Oyneg Shabes.

To mark the 70th anniversary of the Warsaw Philharmonic Choir, we hereby present a new album in the series Live Recordings, featuring Gioachino Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle. This exceptional work was performed in concerts at the Warsaw Philharmonic on 18 and 19 May 2018 by the Warsaw Philharmonic Choir, under the direction of Bartosz Michałowski, with the excellent Polish soloists Joanna Zawartko (soprano), Agnieszka Rehlis (mezzo-soprano), Andrzej Lampert (tenor) and Łukasz Goliński (baritone), and the instrumentalists Ewa Wilczyńska and Agnieszka Kopacka-Aleksandrowicz on piano and Piotr Wilczyński on harmonium.

In October 1940 Nazis forced all the Jews in the Polish city of Warsaw to live in the cramped squalor of a small ghetto.

The boxset features 81 tracks including 71 all exclusive tracks, 4 revamped demo tunes never before released on CD, and 6 exclusive remixes by old school scene acts. Limited to just 800 copies the "Old School Electrology" set comes in a luxurious tall-pak digipak with a 36-page booklet.

This partnership has resulted in the recording of Cowie’s first six quartets, as well as remarkable solo and duo works showcasing the quartet’s unparalleled skill. Now, Cowie presents his seventh string quartet, “Western Australia,” specially crafted for the Kreutzer Quartet, accompanied by four solo portrait pieces dedicated to each member. From the ethereal heights of Clifton Harrison’s viola to the intricate melodies inspired by the habits of owls for Neil Heyde’s cello, Cowie’s compositions reflect a profound reverence for both the human animal and the natural world.

At the age of nine Janina David led a sheltered life with her prosperous Jewish family in Poland. A year later they were all on the verge of starvation, sharing a small room in the Warsaw ghetto. When it became clear that none of them was likely to survive, the thirteen-year-old girl was smuggled out to live with family friends.
