200 babies are brought together to take part in an ambitious scientific study exploring how the incredible changes that happen in the first two years of life make us who we are.

We travel from Osaka Station, the gateway to western Japan, through neighboring Hyogo Prefecture. We explore a rural line that was revitalized by local residents, then travel to the Seto Inland Sea to relish fresh oysters. Next, we ride the futuristic Super Hakuto. At a 400-year-old post town that has changed little over time, we hear tales about master swordsman Miyamoto Musashi. Further on, we travel through mountains on the Hamakaze to a bag-producing town where we meet Japan's sole wicker-trunk weaver. At our final destination Kinosaki, we relax in 1,400-year-old hot springs and reflect on the treasures Hyogo has to offer.

In swampy landscapes of Alabama, paleontologist Dr. Gregory Erikson explores the power of T. rex's formidable jaws by comparing them to modern alligators.

Far from the first movie (or TV news segment, or magazine article) to gather Big Pharma's biggest sins up in one get-out-the-pitchforks exposé, Jonathan Marshall Thompson's Drug$ is no less enraging for its story's familiarity. It offers some bits of fact and argument that may have gone underexposed, and it is more stylish than some earlier journalistic outings. But its potential to make change is hindered, as the film itself notes near its conclusion, by the fact that the already-stoked fear and rage of American citizens is neutered by those we've elected to make laws — many of whom have been taking checks from this deep-pocketed industry for years.
