My adolescence was a Weezer album. But then, that’s how it was for every boy roughly my age who blamed his girl troubles in high school on being too smart, too nice, too quirky. Though those excuses ring a little hollow today, my original copy of Weezer’s self-titled debut, 1994’s so-called “Blue Album”, still gets spun at least once a month. A delirious 41 minutes of crunchy riffs, indelible hooks and geeky charm, its mastery of punk-pop has become clearer with every passing year of humiliation, rejection and even, finally, redemption.

On March 1st, Weezer are set to release The Black Album. To tide fans over until then, Rivers Cuomo and co. have just unveiled a surprise 10-track covers LP which they’ve dubbed, The Teal Album. The tracklist comprises mainly of 80s-themed covers, kicking off with the band’s chart-topping version of Toto’s “Africa” and also featuring renditions of Tears For Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World”, The Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)”, a-ha’s “Take On Me”, and Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean”. Other notable covers include Electric Light Orchestra’s “Mr. Blue Sky”, Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid”, and TLC’s “No Scrubs”.

Muppets: The Green Album is a 2011 compilation CD released by Walt Disney Records. Was it a soundtrack CD? No. Was it something to promote a television show? No. Someone at Kermit The Frog's camp thought it was a good idea for branding to use alternative artists to do their music and here it is. Fun.

Frozen 2 is the soundtrack to the upcoming Disney film of the same name. The soundtrack was released on November 15, 2019, while the film will be released on November 22. It features seven new songs again composed by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez along with the return of "Reindeer(s) Are Better Than People" from the original movie, in addition to end credits covers of three of the film's new songs by Panic! at the Disco, Kacey Musgraves and Weezer, respectively. The deluxe edition features a second disc of score tracks by composer Christophe Beck.

The soundtrack album was released in October 1995. It features mainly alternative rock from the 90s along with dialogue from the film. The ordering of the songs on the soundtrack album is not the order they appear as in the film. For example, Squirtgun's "Social" opens the film, while Weezer's "Susanne" ends the film, with Wax's "Mallrats" playing over the end credits. The song "Boogie Shoes" by KC and the Sunshine Band makes an appearance, when Brodie and T.S. drive to the flea market. However, it was excluded from the soundtrack album. A music video for The Goops' version of "Build Me Up Buttercup" was directed by Smith and featured both Smith and Mewes.
