The Who’s US Quadrophenia tour started on 20 November 1973 at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. The group were nervous about playing Quadrophenia in America, after problems they had faced during the British leg of the tour. At the first show, Keith Moon passed out after being given strong tranquilizers by a fan. The concert is completed with another crowd member filling in for Moon on drums. The remainder of the US gigs were successful. Their final US concert at the Capital Centre, Landover, MD, on 6th December 1973 is among their finest of the tour and is recorded for live radio transmission. Previously unreleased on CD however, this new release now features this remarkable concert for all fans to hear and indeed own for the first time.

It’s hard to believe The Who did not officially release this recording. In spite of all the technical glitches and other problems which the 1973 Quadrophenia tour is known for, The Who were in fine form on this particular night in Philadelphia. The whole band is amazing. In particular, John Entwistle’s bass and Keith Moon’s drumming are spot on brilliant. Considering this is an unofficial release, I would rate the sound quality as above average. This is The Who at their absolute best. Highly recommended for Wholigans.

Pete Townshend revisited the rock opera concept with another double-album opus, this time built around the story of a young mod's struggle to come of age in the mid-'60s. If anything, this was a more ambitious project than Tommy, given added weight by the fact that the Who weren't devising some fantasy but were re-examining the roots of their own birth in mod culture…

After the musical uncertainty of Waterloo Lily, Caravan returned with their most inspired recording since In the Land of the Grey and Pink. A young woman (Meiko Kaji), trained from childhood as an assassin and hell-bent on revenge for the murders of her father and brother and the rape of her mother, hacks and slashes her way to gory satisfaction in turn-of-the-twentieth-century Japan. Rampant with inventive violence and spectacularly choreographed swordplay, Toshiya Fujita’s pair of influential cult classics Lady Snowblood and Lady Snowblood: Love Song of Vengeance are bloody, beautiful extravaganzas composed of one elegant widescreen composition after another. The first Lady Snowblood was a major inspiration for Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill saga, and both of Fujita’s films remain cornerstones of Asian action cinema.

Rigor Mortis Sets In is the third solo album by John Entwistle, who was the bassist for The Who. Distributed by Track Records, the album was named John Entwistle's Rigor Mortis Sets In in the U.S. Co-produced by Entwistle and John Alcock, it consists of three Fifties rock and roll covers, a new version of the Entwistle song "My Wife" from The Who's album Who's Next, and new tracks (only six of the ten songs were new). Rigor Mortis Sets In set in motion John Entwistle assembling his own touring unit during the increasing periods of The Who's inactivity. The cover art of the gatefold LP features on one cover an outdoor photo of a grave, whose heart-shaped headstone is engraved with the dedication described above, while the grave's footstone is inscribed "V.S.O.P." (a grading acronym for cognac). Rigor Mortis Sets In had a rough launch due to its title and cover art. BBC Radio refused to play the album and banned it.
