On his stellar debut LP for Mute, NIN keyboardist and formidable solo artist, Alessandro Cortini taps into a poignantly melodic yet ascetic vein of his prized, gauzy style. 'Volume Massimo,' combines his fondness for melody with the rigour of experimental practice that follows on from 2017's universally acclaimed album ‘Avanti. 8 tracks of deftly arranged synthesizers saturated with sonic artefacts and luscious pop sensibilities.

Recorded live at Koseinenkin Hall, Shinjuku, Tokyo on October 23, 1978. After quitting DEEP PURPLE 1973 IAN GILLAN spent quite a while in a musical wilderness before forming IAN GILLAN BAND in late 1975. This part of his career has been well documented on other Angel Air releases. Ian Gillan Band released three studio albums and were set to record a fourth when Ian had a change of heart, he sensed that the reaction to the group's complicated jazz-rock style was in danger of alienating his core audience. Ian decided to disband IGB and to form a new band - GILLAN. As IGB had a large and very loyal fan base in Japan and as the band at that time had no record deal then it was only natural that GILLAN toured Japan.

Finally available again on a reissue. French progressive rock collective Nine Skies have been weaving together their rock, jazz, classical and progressive influences for a number of years now – combining their acoustic instrumentation with deep, poignant and poetic lyrics featuring characters from modern city life.Their second album, Sweetheart Grips, released in late 2019, was a dense, complex and often heartbreaking exploration of a young soldier's experiences in World War II. This latest release, 5.20, is still recognizably Nine Skies, but overall more introspective and tender. They retain the plaintive, melancholic vocals and lyrical content, but the music is almost entirely acoustic on this occasion, yet has a layered depth, complexity and richness, with intertwining acoustic guitar and piano, complemented by strings, flute, saxophone and rhythmic percussion.

Where U2 announced their bid for global infamy. And as Ghalia Volt reminds us, exactly thirty years ago, it was here that near-mythical producer and Queens Of The Stone Age conspirator David Catching founded the fabled Rancho de la Luna studio that would bring a stream of dust-blown musicians to his door like moths to a candle.
