Will Eisner

(Denny Colt) is a crime-fighting fictional character created by writer-artist Will Eisner. He first appeared in Spirit Section #1 (June 2 1940), a seven-page insert into American Sunday-newspaper comics sections. The series was brought to DC, where it currently resides, by the one-shot Batman/The Spirit (January 2007). The following month, the first 32-issue ongoing series debuted. It was similar in tone to Eisner's original while updating some concepts for a 21st-century audience. Each issue usually runs a complete standalone story, backed up by a second feature in black and white by a rotating creative team. It is now enjoying its second run, albeit darker in tone, under DC's First Wave line. The first 5 issues of the new ongoing are all HQ Minutemen scans while issues #6 and #7 are GreenGiant scans, and they're just as good. By the way, the cover of issue #7 has got to be the best among this week's comics releases, but that's just my humble opinion.

Meet Jessica Jones, a former costumed super hero who, in fact, stunk at it. With powers unremarkable in comparison to the great icons of Marvel, Jessica never found her niche. But once she hung up her cape, she was surprised at how quickly she fell out of the spandex loop. Sure, she may hang out with some of the Avengers socially, but she`s not welcome in Avengers Mansion. And she feels the rejection. She's self-destructive, drinks too much, and has a huge inferiority complex. And did we mention that she's now a Private Investigator who specializes in cases of the super human variety? So if you're thirsty for the film noir feel and complex characterization, grab a stool at the bar!

Revista aparecida en mayo de 1975 de la mano de Garbo Editorial y que contenía historias de Spirit dibujadas por Will Eisner que fueron publicadas en EEUU primero por la editora Warren entre 1974 y 1976 (16 números y un especial) y posteriormente, en 1978, por la editora Kitchen Sink Press, la cual daría continuidad a la colección siguiendo la numeración original y llegando hasta el número 41. La revista tuvo diferentes cabeceras a lo largo del tiempo, siendo la última Will Eisner’s Spirit Magazine, aunque habitualmente se la conoce como The Spirit Magazine.
Garbo Editorial, a diferencia de Warren, publicó hasta 30 números.
