Wire Train

The San Francisco group Wire Train made a big splash with their first album, 1983's In a Chamber. The quartet played a layered, mysterious kind of guitar rock that drew from post-punk's energy, the trippiness of psychedelia, and the solid songcraft of bands from the Byrds to the Flamin' Groovies. There were a few other bands around making similar sounds the Church, to name the most obvious but there weren't any bands this hooky or immediate. The album unspools like a greatest hits collection, as one great song follows another.

To celebrate the 2023 compilation release "Die Trying & Other Hot Sounds", New Math reformed & spent most of last year playing shows around the Upstate New York area. Feeling rejuvenated, the band decided to record some of their original repertoire that had not yet been captured in the studio and was previously lost to time.

The 18 discs Collector's Edition of "The Cutting Edge 1965-1966: The Bootleg Series Vol. 12" is limited to a worldwide pressing of only 5,000 copies, and includes every note recorded during the 1965-1966 sessions, every alternate take and alternate lyrics. The 18CD edition includes Dylan's original nine mono 45 RPM singles released during the time period, and rare hotel room recordings from the Savoy Hotel in London (May 4, 1965), the North British Station Hotel in Glasgow (May 13, 1966) and a Denver, Colorado hotel (March 12, 1966) as well as a strip of original film cels from "Don't Look Back". The sessions that changed the world - "The Cutting Edge 1965-1966: The Bootleg Series Vol. 12" collects outakes, rehearsals and alternate versions of songs that would later be heard on "Bringing It All Back Home", "Highway 61 Revisited" and "Blonde on Blonde". 3 albums that would go on to change the face of rock and roll forever. The Bootleg Series combs the Dylan vaults for unreleased and live recordings, and this may be the very best yet showing Dylan at his "electric" period. Importantly, "The Cutting Edge 1965-1966: The Bootleg Series Vol. 12" provides a rare exploration into Dylan's creative process in the studio, allowing fans to experience another side of Bob Dylan through the evolution of his songs and recordings from this truly groundbreaking period. This Deluxe edition is 111 tracks in six sets.

The debut studio album by Sisters Of Mercy. "First and Last and Always" proved to be a major record and extremely influential in shaping the gothic rock genre. On this new "Digital Edition" sound quality wise this isn't any improvement on earlier versions and could do with being made louder. But as an album there are lots of great tracks here and the bonus tracks especially after hours are worth downloading if you don't already own them.

"Echoes of an Era" is an album by American R&B/Jazz singer Chaka Khan with Joe Henderson, Freddie Hubbard, Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke and Lenny White. The album sees Khan interpreting jazz standards like Thelonious Monk's "I Mean You" and Duke Ellington's "Take the 'A' Train", as well as "Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most", "All of Me", and "I Loves You Porgy". The album was originally not released as a Chaka Khan studio album (who was signed to Warner Bros. Records at the time) but as a band collaboration under the moniker "Echoes of an Era" and with all six performers credited on the album cover.

The third and final part: as time passed I bought fewer and fewer singles, so the years practically fly past in part three…Once again there are well known and more obscure tracks…
