The Sea Within - the new art-rock collective comprising of Roine Stolt (Transatlantic, The Flower Kings), Daniel Gildenlöw (Pain of Salvation), Jonas Reingold (Steve Hackett, The Flower Kings, Karmakanic, The Tangent), Tom Brislin (Yes Symphonic, Renaissance, Spiraling, Deborah Harry) & Marco Minnemann (The Aristocrats, Steven Wilson, UK, Joe Satriani) - have announced that their debut self-titled album will be released 22nd June 2018.
Roine Stolt comments on how the project came together: “I think all it started as a suggestion from the record company - putting together a new band, starting fresh, seeing if collective writing could spawn a unique style. Call it a supergroup if you want - I think we can handle that”…

Bleed Out is the eighth studio album by Dutch symphonic metal band Within Temptation. It was released on 20 October 2023. It is produced by their longtime producer Daniel Gibson, alongside Mathijs Tieken and Within Temptation. The album marks the first time the band opted for releasing a full record without the support of a major record label. Musically, the record incorporates elements from symphonic metal, gothic metal, metalcore, and djent. Lyrically, the band approached themes related to freedom. They addressed subjects such as war, oppression, women's rights, religion, bullying, and inner-struggles.

Glaswegian groove/metalcore act Bleed from Within have their fifth album impending release. With a five-year gap between ‘Uprising’ and ‘Era’, their last couple of albums, it was worth the wait as BFW significantly stepped up their game. Luckily, there’s only been two years between ‘Era’ and ‘Fracture’, and we were treated to the first single from this album at the end of 2019. It seems on ‘Era’ they found a nice run of form with their songwriting abilities and chemistry – perhaps with the arrival and influence of Steven Jones (also of From Sorrow to Serenity), now on his sophomore BFW album. ‘Fracture’ doesn’t stray too much from the quality or tone of the last record. It’s a solid effort – so if you liked ‘Era’, you’ll probably enjoy this one too!

Jazz / Fusion / Spiritual Jazz / Progressive / Drums / Guitar / Church Organ

Jazz can swing (hard bop, Dixieland, classic jazz), or it can rock (fusion). Both are valid options. And in some cases, jazz floats, which is exactly what happens on Asaf Sirkis' Song Within. This excellent fusion/post-bop disc doesn't swing like Benny Goodman's big band or rock like Scott Henderson & Tribal Tech; instead, it floats along in a contemplative, probing way, and that works pleasingly well for Israeli-born, London-based drummer Asaf Sirkis (who forms a cohesive trio with Mike Outram on electric and acoustic guitar and Steve Lodder on acoustic church organ and electric keyboards).
