Xiu Xiu

Chinese laborer Steelhead (Jackie Chan) illegally arrives in Japan to search of his missing sweetheart Xiu Xiu (Xu Jing Lei), only to discover that she's married to rising Yakuza boss Eguchi (Kato Masaya). Determined to survive in Tokyo's underbelly, Steelhead unites the Chinese migrants, establishing their own community to protect themselves from the oppressive Japanese and foreign gangs. Steelhead even finds new love with bar owner Lily (Fan Bing Bing), and earns the favor of the righteous Inspector Kitano (Takenaka Naoto). However, the Chinese antagonize the entrenched Taiwanese gangsters, leading Steelhead to forge an alliance with Eguchi. As a Yakuza enforcer, Steelhead earns respect and even his own base of power. But Steelhead's Chinese brothers are corrupted by their newfound power, and an internal struggle within the Yakuza threatens their own position. All Steelhead wants is a return to simpler, honest times like he once shared with Xiu Xiu back in China. But it may now be too late???

In China, the poor worker Nick repairs tractors and misses his sweetheart Xiu Xiu, back in Japan, she having never sent any news to her family or him. While illegally emigrating to Japan, Nick loses his Chinese documents and so cannot return to his country. He is welcomed by his countrymen who lodge and work in Shinjuku where they also help him to find illegal work. While running from a police raid through the sewage system where Chinese are illegally working, Nick saves Inspector Kitano from drowning in the dirty water. Later, after an incident with his cousin, Joe, and a Taiwan gang, Nick saves the powerful Yakuza boss Toshinari Eguchi. He is the husband of Xiu Xiu, who is now called Yuko and are parents of a little daughter. The mobster offers a dirty job to Nick; in retribution, he promises to deliver the quarter dominated by the Taiwan gang to him. Nick becomes the boss of the Chinese illegal immigrants.

This is a movie set in the late Ming Dynasty. The 3 main characters are all elite guards for the palace. One of their fellow guardsmen goes bad. His former companions must now forget their bond and apprehend him. But are they being lured into a larger conspiracy against their emperor?

Life Show follows a single mother, Lai Shuangyang (Tao Höng), who operates a duck neck stall in night market in an unnamed city in central China (the film was shot in Chongqing). Though Shuangyang keeps her cool, her life is filled with complications. Her brother drug-addicted Jiujiu has been committed to a sanitarium Her assistant, Mei, who has fallen in love with Jiujiu, attempts suicide. Her sister in law, Xiaojin, always leaves Shuangyang's nephew for Shuangyang to take care of. At the same time, Shuangyang is trying to regain her family's home, which was given to a neighbor during the Cultural Revolution…
