An intimate epic wherein present and past move as one, Colossal Youth (Costa’s English-language title for Juventude em marcha, or Youth on the March) chronicles Ventura, the towering Cape Verdean who has assumed the role of surrogate “father” to an untold number of characters around Lisbon and its now-razed neighbourhood of Fontaínhas. Through Ventura’s ghost-like visitations to figures such as Vanda Duarte (the central personage of Costa’s previous In Vanda’s Room) and repeated recollections of his past life as a newly migrated manual labourer, Costa explores the nature, and necessity, of storytelling in the course of the human adventure.

Then, he's struck by lightning. After a slow recovery, he grows younger. He must now avoid Nazis, who want to study and experiment on him. Some years later, he meets a young woman who has her own passage through a lightning storm. Not only does Dominic find love again, but her new abilities hold the key to his research. Is the sweetness of life finally at hand?

Riots, harrassment from the law, amazing bands, crazy stories, and best of all, The Sterns Family's earnest desire to change the world through punk rock are captured in this moving documentary.

This mini-series takes place between 1933 and 1939 in a small German town and basically tells the stories of three families (local Nazi leader, Social-democratic musician and Jewish merchant). The film shows very vivid how the political developments, home evenings and Hitler youth infiltration insidiously affect the lives of all. Values and attitudes change through seduction and reprisals. Children and youth are shown as perpetrators and victims at the same time.

He is planning his suicide when a bolt of lightning reduces his age and magnifies his brain power. Dominic is sent to Switzerland to elude the Nazis. There, years later, he meets a woman who looks like Laura. Through her he goes on a surreal, metaphysical exploration of language, life and reality.

Silent Youth is a film for misfits, dreamers and lovers. It's the classic story of a coming out, but it focuses on the moments one tends to quickly forget: the first approach, the creaking of the chair while sitting across from each other, not knowing what to say. And it's about the silence.
