2006 debut album from the 21 year old Australian guitar prodigy. Born in Adelaide, Orianthi has played the guitar since the tender age of six, and has accumulated an impressive list of credits. She opened for Steve Vai in her home town when she was 14, and when she was 17 she opened for ZZ Top. It was when she met and performed with Carlos Santana when she was 18, that doors really started to open. Now at 21, Orianthi has signed with a major U.S. label, Geffen Records, and is currently in Nashville writing with some of the world's biggest writers including Darrell Brown (Keith Urban), Troy Verges (Leann Rimes) and Angelo (Kings of Leon).

Three CD set charting the birth and early development of American hard rock. In the late 60s, the parallel emergence of psychedelia and the blues-based power trio format saw pop evolve into rock. In America, bands became harder, heavier, rawer and louder to a backdrop of the Vietnam War, street drugs and increasingly powerful amps. Commercially successful acts like Vanilla Fudge, Steppenwolf, Blue Cheer and Iron Butterfly spearheaded a new wave of bands whose sound would later be codified as heavy metal. Over three CDs and four hours of music, 'We're An American Band' charts hard rock's evolution during the late 60s and early 70s, culminating in Grand Funk's game-changing, chart-topping late 1973 single of the same name.

More Top than ZZ Top… Never heard of the Redbeards (from Texas)? Well firstly they ain't from Texas (probably). Secondly they do sound a weenie bit like the ZZ boys, which when this LP was released in 1987 was only a good thing, and today it stands up in its own right. The version of I Saw Her Standing There is wonderful, as are the other two covers of Gazza Glitters I Didnt Know I Loved You.. and Slade's Gudbuy T'Jane. Then there's their own songs, which range from boogie tastic to plain ol' silly, this is fun-a-billy and deserving of your attention!
