The ten one-hour Dekalog films are set around the same modern Warsaw apartment building. Each film deals with a theme - love, marriage, infidelity, parenthood, guilt, faith, compassion - exploring the relevance of one of the Ten Commandments, showing how people deal with moral dilemma in their everyday lives. The soundtrack for nine of the ten Dekalog films marks the point where the creative relationship and friendship between Preisner and Kieslowski first flowered and contains the seeds of much of Preisner's later work. (Kieslowski and Preisner decided that Dekalog X would not require an original music score). The music was recorded by Zbigniew Malecki and Aleksander Dowsilas at Radiowy Dom Sztuki Studio, Katowice.
Starting his brilliant career in late 1960's, Stanko Quartet's alumni Zbigniew Seifert, quickly became leading European Jazz voice and the first violist capable to transcend the spirit of Coltrane music. Born June 6th, 1946, he began studying the violin at the age of six and ten years later also took up the saxophone. He studied violin at the University of Krakow, while also playing alto in his jazz group. The music of John Coltrane proved to be a strong influence throughout Seifert's career. As Scott Yanow observed: "Zbigniew Seifert was the violin what John Coltrane was to the saxophone". From an early age and later on as a member of Stanko's Quintet (1969-1973), he had made a name for himself in Europe…
"Renaissance is back, this time with a double CD on Maciek Karlowski's Fundacja Sluchaj!. This clearly, the trio's masterpiece: rick, diverse, amazingly deep, emotional, expressive and simply beautiful like hell. Disc 1, "Gesualdo", contains Anna Gadt's arrangements, deconstructions and her own original music obviously related to ancient, renaissance music. With one exception: "Monumentum" de-constructs already a de-construction of ancient music by Igor Stravinski of the same title. Everything is outstanding here… Anna's singing is voyage through the all possible styles of contemporary avantgarde vocalism. Krzysztof Gradziuk's drumming proves that he is one of the leading drummers in Poland, Europe and the worlds, especially in his ability to underline the art of his collaborators.
