Adelmo Fornaciari Cavaliere di Gran Croce OMRI, more commonly known by his stage name Zucchero Fornaciari or simply Zucchero, is an Italian singer-songwriter and musician, with an Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. His stage name, Zucchero, is the Italian word for sugar, as his elementary teacher used to call him. His music is largely inspired by gospel, soul, blues and rock music, and alternates between Italian ballads and more rhythmic R&B-boogie-like pieces. He is credited as the "father of Italian blues", introducing blues to the big stage in Italy. He is one of the few European blues artists who still enjoy great international success.

In 2005 he helped to introduce himself to the American public when he released Zucchero & Co., an album of duets with artists like Sting, Eric Clapton, B.B. King, and Sheryl Crow. The next year, with the help of producer Don Was, Zucchero issued Fly, a record that, though it is sung in Italian, has enough comfortable adult pop elements that it should probably appeal to foreign listeners as well as to his compatriot base. Zucchero's always been a fan of the blues, and this continues to be shown on Fly, a third of whose songs are interpretations of 12-bar-influenced white rock.

Black Cat is the thirteenth studio album by the Italian blues rock singer-songwriter Zucchero Fornaciari, released on 29 April 2016. It's his first full-length studio album in six years, after Chocabeck in 2010, given that La Sesión Cubana (2012) was a mix of unreleased, previously released and cover songs. The album is marked by a music which goes back to soul & blues roots and sound of the famous Oro Incenso & Birra (1989). According to Zucchero, the album does not have the meaning of Western prejudice of Black cat, yet Afro-American for "figure of speech, a greeting, a symbol of auspice". As well there's a component of anarchism toward the "market rules". It is his "darkest album and rough ever in terms of sonority".

December 11th sees the release of “D.O.C. Deluxe”, featuring all the songs on “D.O.C.” plus six brand new tracks including the special duet of STING & ZUCCHERO singing the previously unreleased “September”.
