Here's a fun Christmas compilation from Ace Records that includes all ten tracks from the exceedingly rare 1962 LP 'Twas The Night Before Christmas by Huey "Piano" Smith & The Clowns. Here's a review of that album:
One of the most unique Christmas holiday albums of all time, this was recorded in 1962, after Huey "Piano" Smith's small string of hits and the departure of lead singer/secret weapon Bobby Marchan from the ranks. But the band kept rockin' and the vocals are ably handled on this disc by Gerri Hall, "Scarface" John Williams and even Huey himself on the title cut. Six of the ten songs from the original album were written by Smith, and tracks like "Happy New Year," "Almost Time for Christmas" and "White Christmas Blues" closely mirror the melodies and arrangements for some of his better known hits like "We Like Birdland," "For Cryin' out Loud" and "Little Liza Jane." Even old stand-bys like "Jingle Bells" and "Silent Night" get the Crescent City groove applied to them here. Adding guitar to the Clowns' regular sax- and piano-dominated New Orleans sound is Mac Rebennack, who also chimes in vocally on "Doing the Santa Claus." –Cub Koda, All Music Guide

Neil Diamond's first two holiday albums were plainly titled The Christmas Album and The Christmas Album, Vol. 2, which gave a pretty good indication of the by-the-book music they contained, just like how the very name of 2009's A Cherry Cherry Christmas is a tip-off that this collection is a decidedly less serious affair, even if it recycles a good chunk of the same recordings that comprised those earlier albums. A Cherry Cherry Christmas keeps a barbershop quartet arrangement of "Deck the Halls," a doo wop "White Christmas," and a swinging "Jingle Bell Rock," but what's notable are the additions: a ridiculous, self-celebrating "Cherry Cherry Christmas" that's trumped only by a goofy cover of Adam Sandler's "Chanukah Song." These two new cuts make Diamond seem like the garrulous uncle at your family's holiday party, the one who is eager to prove how cool he is, which only makes him seem all the more out of touch.

The Belgian label Les Disques Du Crépescule has thus far released five versions of this compilation, in 1981, 1982, 1986, 1988, and 2015. Each release after the first combined new tracks with selected cuts from earlier releases, a pattern similar to the two albums that this effort most closely resembles, the ZE Christmas Record (1981, 1982, 2004) and Christmas Time by the dB's & Friends (1986, 1993, 2006). The 1981 release was entitled Chansons Noël: Ghosts of Christmas Past; all subsequent versions were entitled Ghosts Of Christmas Past. The contents of the 1982 cassette and 1982 LP were slightly different.

The Pasadena Roof Orchestra presents its very first Christmas Album. All the tracks are carefully selected Christmas favourites drawn from the Orchestra's extensive repertoire, and capture the very essence of a vintage Christmas celebration. A Christmas album from an established artist is normally high up on the recording agenda. In this respect it might be fair to say this album is somewhat overdue, especially as the Orchestra had a radio hit with "White Christmas" in the 70s. A little research into seasonal songs from the 20s, 30s and 40s reveals a wealth of material, and whilst some of these tracks will be very familiar, others not so.
