A.c.t

One of the first “new” progressive rock acts I got into back in the day. Feels weird to say that. But at a time when I only really knew of Yes, Dream Theater, and Rush, a good friend of mine introduced me to a few bands that helped enlarge my world of music appreciation. A.C.T was one of those bands and I will forever be grateful for his help in expanding my horizons (ya hear that, Frank!?).

A.C.T., a progressive rock/pop band from Sweden, was formed in 1995. A.C.T. attracted attention with their outstanding performance technique, meticulous compositional beauty, and sound with a theatrical worldview, and made their album debut in 1999 with "Today's Report". Since then, their one-of-a-kind style, which skillfully blends theatrical elements with a pop sensibility, has garnered support not only from the progressive rock community but also from a wide range of listeners. In recent years, they have started to release EPs in four parts, aiming to revitalize their activities by releasing works in a shorter span of time compared to the production of conventional albums. In 2023, A.C.T. released its third mini-album, "Falling," which was highly acclaimed by fans.

A.C.T has recharged the batteries and now give us an album of splendour where the fans are in for a treat with progrock extravaganza, the classic A.C.T sound has returned and a tear almost fall from my eyes when I hear the fruitful "A Truly Gifted Man". "Look at the Freak" is the best song Sparks never wrote back in the 70´s, this band truly has a unique sound of artpop and progrock that is built on love for their heroes such as It Bites, Big Money, ELO, 10cc, etc.

'Silence' is the fourth studio album of the band A.C.T, whom consists of five eager and ambitious young musicians from Sweden. With their 1999 debut album, 'Today's Report', A.C.T have won the hearts of rock fans the world over. Their fresh and energy-laden mixture of melodic prog, rock and pop comes across entirely convincing and recently won them an opening slot with the legendary Saga on their recent European tour.

Once in a while you hear a band you previously knew nothing about, like A.C.T. a Swedish band. They are a five piece consisting of Jerry Sahlin (vocals/keys), Ola Andersson (guitars/vocals), Herman Saming (vocals), Peter Asp (bass) and Thomas Lejon (drums). They remind in places of ELO, Queen, Supertramp, Cheap Trick, Valensia and Jellyfish - not a bad combination at all!

'Imaginary Friends' is the second album from A.C.T, and is another solid effort from the group. As with 'Today's Report', the album has several tracks followed by a suite. However, in this case there is a hidden song, "Catherine", after the suite. In addition, the Japanese release of this CD also includes a bonus track, which was a demo from 1996 called "New Age Polka".

In 1999, Swedish band A.C.T released their debut album 'Today's Report'. Their modern and powerful mixture of melodic progressive rock and pop convinced music fans and critics around the world. First class songs performed by five very talented young musicians.
