In FOLKSONGS from Duo Apollon, soprano Anastasia Malliaras and classical guitarist Aaron Haas conjure up pastoral scenes that appeal both for their universally human and unique cultural expressions. The album features the works of Maurice Ravel, Manuel de Falla, Benjamin Britten, and Mátyás Seiber, all of whom drew inspiration from a variety of folk music traditions. Ravel’s Cinq Mélodies Populaires Grecques, for example, recalls five Greek melodies from the island of Chios. Though Ravel set the songs in his native French, Duo Apollon performs them in the original Greek. Here, as in the rest of the album, the arrangement for voice and guitar results in strikingly intimate performances.

In fashion circles, the adjective “bespoke” denotes custom-made suits and shirts and signifies the person who designs and constructs them. On "The Bespoke Man’s Narrative", pianist Aaron Diehl extrapolates this notion to matters of musical invention. The five originals and five arrangements comprising the programme were chosen specifically for Diehl's quartet of young all-stars: vibraphonist Warren Wolf, bassist David Wong and drummer Rodney Green.

In the fall of 2022, French jazz vibraphonist Alexis Valet followed the sun, from east to west, and embarked on a trip to New York. After three months there playing, jamming and absorbing as much music as possible, he decided to record an album, “Following the Sun”, that encapsulates his experience in the Big Apple.

For the past two decades pianist Aaron Goldberg has crisscrossed the globe, spreading his music and absorbing local knowledge along the way. True to the jazz mentality, he learned to embrace serendipity as an artistic muse. Five years ago this month, in an historic chateau at the exact geographic center of France, Goldberg was reunited with an early influence. Soon a new project began to take shape. Goldberg’s latest recording, At The Edge of The World, documents this recent collaboration with drummer and percussionist Leon Parker, a brilliant innovator and performer, in a new trio along with the gifted bassist Matt Penman.

Sous le nom d’AaRON, le parolier de langue anglaise Simon Buret accompagné d'Olivier Coursier, compositeur, sont devenus célèbres en 2006 quand leurs chansons « U-Turn (Lili) » et « Mister K » ont été utilisées pour la bande originale de l'énorme succès « Je vais bien, ne t'en fais pas », Buret ayant passé une démo au réalisateur Philippe Lioret à l'occasion d'une audition pour un second rôle. Après le succès du film, « U-Turn » est devenu un petit phénomène sur Internet, à la suite de quoi le duo a sorti son premier album en 2007. Avec des textes autobiographiques, un son rock éthéré quelque part entre Tom McRae et Keane, et une reprise plaintive de « Strange Fruit », l'album s’est classé numéro huit des charts français.
