Includes mono and stereo versions of much-loved 1968 debut album plus their post-Elmer follow-up LP, several studio out-takes, demo versions, non-LP singles and a revelatory 50 minutes of BBC session tracks (the bulk of which have never been released before), Long Nights Of Summer features a new 6000 word essay on the band and many rare images.

My overriding goal during my treasured 31 years as conductor of BYU Singers was to give both students and audiences experiences that would fulfill and stretch their musical sensibilities. It was not difficult finding concert literature to accomplish part of this goal, but it was in my desire to balance the program that I experienced frustration. I was fully aware that an element of “lighter,” more entertainment-oriented pieces was needed to balance our programs. But finding pieces and—even more— arrangements of those pieces worthy of the vocal and musical abilities of the extra- ordinary students in the choir was virtually impossible. So I decided to write my own arrangements for the choir.

Unearthing the music on our new collection, Classic Black & White Jazz Sessions, has been a dream for decades. Unlike most of our sets, the original masters of these sessions are not known to exist anymore. Confusion over who owned the copyrights and who owned physical recordings we could use as source material raised additional obstacles.
