After Storm

Memphis gospel singer Elder Jack Ward’s spirit took flight on April 11, 2023 after a remarkable life of spreading God’s word through example, message and most especially, song. His latest album, The Storm, had just been released by Bible and Tire Records at the time of his passing and has now become the final word and work of a life well lived. Like its 2021 predecessor, Already Made, The Storm captured an element of Ward that producer Bruce Watson found truly rare in the world of gospel music: song writing.

Prolific Afro House sensation, Chymamusique, has now released his highly-anticipated album. Titled “After The Storm,” the project of musical art dropped today, 29 September. The project of musical art is all we thought it would be and even more.

Getting Over the Storm is the eighteenth studio album by English reggae band UB40. It features cover versions of songs either written or recorded by country music artists together with five original UB40 songs. The country music tracks include the Randy Travis song "On the Other Hand", George Jones' "Getting Over the Storm", Willie Nelson's "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" and Jim Reeves' "He'll Have to Go".

Juxtaposing ’60s and ’70s news snippets, band interviews, and concert footage, director Daniel E. Meza brilliantly relates how racism and the La Raza movement forged Latin rock. In the case of El Chicano, the cultural strife inspired music of great joy. “We were in the thick of it,” says bassist Fred Sanchez, “because [Chicano-power organizers] were the people who hired El Chicano.
