Al Stewart was born on September 5, 1945 in Greenock, a small town west of Glasgow. Music became the center of his life at an early age. He bought his first guitar from future Police guitarist Andy Summers, and King Crimson founder Robert Fripp gave him guitar lessons. In 1967 Al released his first album "Bedsitter Images" on CBS. With his fifth long player "Past, Present & Future" the American market discovered the Scottish bard. Stewart combined historical and contemporary events in his lyrics, enriching them with quotations from film and literature. His references to Nostradamus caused a stir. Star producer Alan Parsons (Pink Floyd, Steve Harley…) took over Al Stewart's studio direction and produced with him the million-selling albums "Modern Times", "Year Of The Cat" and "Time Passages" between 1975 and 1978.

For Al Stewart fans who can't afford the five-CD set Just Yesterday, this 30-song double-disc collection is a fair – but only a fair – alternative. It is lacking a few items, however, that would make it more satisfying. For starters, the studio renditions of "Roads to Moscow" and "Nostradamus" are nowhere to be found, and then there's the absence of Stewart's debut single, "The Elf."…

2014 five CD box set containing a quintet of albums from the Scottish singer/songwriter. Each album is housed in a mini LP sleeve. Includes the albums Bedsitter Images, Love Chronicles, Zero She Flies, Year Of The Cat, Time Passages. A pair of hits – "Year of the Cat" and "Time Passages," arriving two years apart during the late 1970s – defined Al Stewart as a louche soft rock troubadour for millions of listeners. While that description is not inaccurate – Stewart had a fondness for lush studio production – it doesn't encompass everything the Scottish singer/songwriter accomplished during his lengthy career. Initially part of the British folk underground of the '60s, Stewart didn't shy away from controversy in his early years, becoming notorious for singing "f***ing" on his 1969 album Love Chronicles.

The Vietnamese Lunar New Year identifies 2023 as The Year of the Cat…and the timing couldn’t be better! Real Gone Music and Second Disc Records are proud to announce a definitive, first-ever singles collection from legendary singer-songwriter Al Stewart. In 1976, Stewart took “Year of the Cat” to the top ten of the Pop and AC charts, inaugurating a run of timeless hits still heard on radio today. Now, for the very first time, each and every one of the British troubadour’s seminal A- and B-sides from his halcyon period has been brought together. Songs on the Radio: The Complete U.S. Singles 1974-1981 brings together 20 tracks which catapulted the artist from folk clubs to the mainstream. Often in collaboration with producer-engineer Alan Parsons, Stewart bridged the gap between FM rock and AM pop.

Narrative tales of romance and experience, sometimes third-person and sometimes autobiographical, set the mood, complemented by mild folk-rock arrangements and Stewart’s warm yet bemused voice.
