Aladdin: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is the soundtrack for the Walt Disney Pictures film, Aladdin, released on cassette and compact disc on October 31, 1992. A remastered reissue with altered lyrics and new artwork was released in 2001. A special edition reissue featuring two previously released demos and new artwork was released in 2004. The music on the album earned composer Alan Menken an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score, as well as a nomination for the BAFTA Award for Best Film Music. Menken also shared an Academy Award, Golden Globe and Grammy Award for Song of the Year with Tim Rice for the song "A Whole New World". All music composed by Alan Menken.

The full details of the soundtrack album for Disney’s live-action remake of Aladdin have been revealed. The album features all the songs from the movie, including new versions of the classic songs from the 1992 animated feature composed by Academy Award winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Enchanted) and featuring lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, as well as new songs by Menken featuring lyrics by Benj Pasek & Justin Paul (The Greatest Showman). Also included is the movie’s original score composed by Menken. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, May 22 and physically this Friday, May 24. Aladdin directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Will Smith, Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, Marwan Kenzari, Navid Negahban, Nasim Pedrad, Billy Magnussen and Numan Acar is opening in theaters nationwide this weekend.

Despite going into Guy Ritchie‘s Aladdin with almost no hope whatsoever, I ended up being won over by the movie. Fans of the original Aladdin won’t be disappointed, and while I’ve grown to be somewhat cynical about Disney remaking its animated classics, this one justifies its existence by making some interesting updates while staying true to its characters.

Walt Disney Records has released a new soundtrack album for the live-action adaptation of Disney’s Aladdin. The album features instrumental versions of all the songs from the movie composed by Alan Menken (with lyrics by Howard Ashman & Tim Rice and Benj Pasek & Justin Paul). BOWIE S 1996 CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE ANNUAL BRIDGE SCHOOL BENEFIT CONCERT In October 1996, Neil and Pegi Young s Bridge School Benefit concert series was 10 years old, having kicked off a decade earlier in 86. At Bridge X , as the 96 event was known, the all-star line-up included, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Pearl Jam, Billy Idol, Patti Smith, Pete Townshend, Bonnie Raitt and Cowboy Junkies. David Bowie also performed, playing acoustic sets on both days of the benefit gig - October 19th & 20th - alongside regular 90s band members Reeves Gabrels and Gail Ann Dorsey. Performing a stellar selection from the back catalogue, with an impromptu version of the Coasters I m A Hog For You Baby thrown in too for good measure, all played acoustically by Bowie (his team had a few volts passing through their respective bass and guitar), this rare recording is now available for the first time on this CD.
