Two more cycles of ballads that Mikis Theodorakis refers to as lyric, light, aegean. Both cycles have to do with beautiful islands, the Cyclades and Cyprus that the poet calls "Golden Green Leaf thrown at the Aegean Sea". The first seven ballads, constitute the first cycle, or Small Cyclades and are written on the poetry of Nobelist Odysseas Elytis. The remaining 9 songs are the score of a movie named "The Island of Venus". The music is indeed light and playful and brings in mind the colors and the sunlight of the Aegean Sea. Especially the last song of the album, with Grigoris Bithikotsis, is a real masterpiece. Enjoy.
