Imdb info

"Jodorowsky wanted to change the World, to enlighten it spiritually, by making The Holy Mountain. Although he put a tremendous effort and knowledge and imagination, he failed to do so, because the World did not want to change. He changed. He found his "enlightenment" and nowdays he's a different person than his younger self in 1973. By watching this film, you have a chance of learning some important spiritual lessons. By listening to the Director's commentary ( included on separate audio track ) you have a chance to understand better this complex multi-layered film, which is a bit more than a film, and a bit more than a work of art. This is one of the rare directors that I really recommend listening to: there's so much knowledge, wisdom, insights, interesting life stories to hear from him, and a lot of chances to laugh as well…but, even if you're not interested in spirituality, you can just enjoy this visually stunning, colourful, surreal adventure…"

An eccentric prince decides one day to give up all his wealth and position and live his own life. His idea of living his own life, though, is to take up residence in the city's sewers. His dutiful servant, who happens to be a thief, accompanies him. Appeals to his rich uncle to do something about it fall on deaf ears – the uncle, who prefers the company of his Dalmatians to that of people, is as nutty as he is.

Classic Americana and avant-garde European cinema sensibilities meet Zen Buddhism and the Bible as master gunfighter and cosmic mystic El Topo (played by writer/director Alejandro Jodorowsky) must defeat his four sharp-shooting rivals on an ever-increasingly bizarre path to allegorical self-enlightenment and surreal resurrection.

Jodorowsky's Dune

Jodorowsky's Dune (2013)
Shot in France, England, Switzerland and the United States, this documentary covers director Alejandro Jodorowsky (El Topo, Holy Mountain, Santa Sangre) and his 1974 Quixotic attempt to adapt the seminal sci-fi novel Dune into a feature film. After spending 2 years and millions of dollars, the massive undertaking eventually fell apart, but the artists Jodorowsky assembled for the legendary project continued to work together. This group of artists, or his “warriors” as Jodorowsky named them, went on to define modern sci-fi cinema with such films as Alien, Blade Runner, Star Wars and Total Recall.
