A versatile musician and music producer. Alessandro's preference for board instruments was clear when as a child he began to play as a self-taught pianist. He also started composing at a very early age. At 14 y.o. he wrote a cycle of Mazurkas inspired by Chopin. He deepened aspects of jazz composition and silent-film music, and became a close friend with Eric James, the associate composer of Sir Charles Chaplin, until his death. In 2000, a few minutes before his performance, James put a paper on the grand piano, and in front of the audience wrote: nist of immense talent and will surely make his mark on the musical profession.

French composer Yann Tiersen has written music for various instruments, including guitar, piano, synthetizer, violin, accordion, xylophone, and melodica. Some of his compositions have been used in film scoring, such as “Amélie”, whose soundtrack primarily features excerpts from his first three studio albums (“La Valse des monstres”, “Rue des cascades”, and “La Phare”). The present recording features Tiersen’s original solo piano works selected from his very first album, but also from “L’Absente”, “Les Retrouvailles,” and from his last work - “EUSA”. It also includes some piano works found in the soundtracks for “Amélie” and “Goodbye Lenin!”.

Erik Satie's opus is undoubtedly recognized, not only by the academic world, as original and tremendously innovative. Debussy, Ravel, Milhaud and many others took ideas and inspiration from Satie. It is not coincidence that he created new prototypes of combinations and compositional inventions, often extemporaneous and unpretentious, but which opened new horizons in classical music history. Atonality, bitonality, but also what is now called 'Ambience' music, increasingly fashionable, are all marks by Satie's genius. "It is almost offensive to even compare the genius of a genuine composer like Satie to the pragmatic and often cunning attitude of certain "modern" composers of today's business." - wrote Alessandro Simonetto - "Satie is also much, much more other just "minimal". His "Sports et Divertissement" - just to mention his main piano collection - is a vademecum of new piano ideas, his best will ike the Preludes for Chopin."

Pietro Domenico Paradies (1707-1791), also known as Paradisi, was born in Napoli. He was most probably a pupil of Nicola Porpora (1686- 1768) and began composing primarily for the theatre. In 1746 he moved to London where he established himself as a teacher of the harpsichord and voice.
Today, his reputation rests on a collection of twelve harpsichord sonatas, presented here on the piano. This collection appeared in 1754 when it was issued by the London publisher, John Johnson.
All the sonatas in the collection are formed from two contrasting movements: the first longer and the second shorter, usually in a shared key. All bear the influence of both Alessandro Scarlatti (1660-1725) and Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757) through their structural idiom, innovative keyboard virtuosity and various harmonic eccentricities.Played by Alessandro Simonetto, whose earlier recording for Brilliant Classics with works by Mattheson and Bustijn met with enthusiastic critical acclaim.
