GRAMMY-winning and platinum-selling artist Lisa Loeb announced today a new collaborative album with folk music band The Hollow Trees called That’s What It’s All About. Set to release on August 23rd, That’s What It’s All About is the newest addition to Loeb’s acclaimed children’s album series and her first since 2016’s Feel What You Feel, which earned a GRAMMY for “Best Children’s Album.” That’s What It’s All About is for kids and grownups alike, an 11-track musical time machine that will take adults and listeners on a song-by-song trip down memory lane.

This full-length debut from British blues-rockers Spooky Tooth has a tone similar to Traffic with its psychedelic take on the influential pop and soul music of the '60s. A few cover tunes including Janis Ian's "Society's Child" and the Nashville Teens' "Tobacco Road" are included, but original songs like the soulful ballad "It Hurts You So" and "Bubbles" (with its Beach Boys sensibility) are the real standouts.

One can easily argue that the Basie band, from the moment of its mid-’30s Kansas City emergence, did a great deal to set the course of American popular music as a whole. And now, long after William James Basie’s 1984 death, the band continues as a legacy institution, full of good vibes and a solid professional ethic under the leadership of Scotty Barnhart. All About that Basie mixes it up between older Basie staples (“Sent for You Yesterday,” “April in Paris,” trumpeter Thad Jones’ tart midtempo blues “From One to Another”) and fairly surprising, at times hard-to-recognize arrangements of more modern pop and R&B hits by the likes of Earth, Wind & Fire, Leonard Cohen, and Adele. The guests bring tons of personality to the affair, including singer Kurt Elling in top ballad form, organist Joey DeFrancesco sounding like a big band unto himself, and Stevie Wonder lending a simple and honest poignancy on harmonica.

Performing Music History offers a unique perspective on music history and performance through a series of conversations with women and men intimately associated with music performance, history, and practice: the musicians themselves. Fifty-five celebrated artists—singers, pianists, violinists, cellists, flutists, horn players, oboists, composers, conductors, and jazz greats—provide interviews that encompass most of Western music history, from the Middle Ages to contemporary classical music, avant-garde innovations, and Broadway musicals.

The Malmö, Sweden based quartet Arre! Arre! is back with their first piece of new music since the acclaimed debut LP A.T.T.A.C.K was released in 2015, become one of the years most praised rock records in Scandinavia, being nominated for rock album of the year at the Swedish Grammys, and only made available outside of Scandinavia in November last year.Tell Me All About Them is due for release on March 15 via PNKSLM Recordings (ShitKid, Les Big Byrd, Miss World etc) in connection to the band making their US debut during SXSW. Showcasing the bands unique brand of feminist rock n roll, with influences from surf, garage rock and punk, its a definite statement of intent from the Swedish band. The album was recorded during the fall of 2018 in their hometown of Malmö with producer Joakim Lindberg (YAST, Hater, Echo Ladies etc).
