"All the Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes" is the third official solo album by English rock musician and songwriter Pete Townshend, guitarist for The Who. Townshend had just successfully conquered his life-threatening alcoholism and drug addiction, so „Chinese Eyes“ was the first album in a long time that he did completely sober. Again, Townshend worked with producers Chris Thomas and Bill Price (known for their work with the Sex Pistols and the Pretenders), who give the songs more pop flavor than an expected punk edge. Highlights include the quirky "Face Dances Part Two" (an early MTV favorite), the beautiful yet haunting album-closing "Slit Skirts", "The Sea Refuses No River", and "Somebody Saved Me".

Guitarist and singer-songwriter Adelmo Fornaciari, better known by the moniker Zucchero, built a following in his native Italy with his unique brand of adult contemporary pop–a following that expanded internationally as his career progressed. Geared specifically to American audiences, this release of ALL THE BEST includes some of Zucchero's best-loved tunes (such as "Senza Una Donna" and "Wonderful Life"), and wonderful guest performances from the likes of Paul Young, Miles Davis, and Luciano Pavarotti.

Frank Sinatra turned 80 in 1995, and Capitol released this two-disc "best of" in celebration. Sinatra's initial tenure at Capitol, which lasted from 1953 to 1962, is generally considered to be his artistic watermark. His voice and technique had improved considerably since his initial peak of popularity in the mid-'40s (the "swinging" phrasing most commonly associated with Sinatra's style really came to the fore during the Capitol years); he also had the good fortune to work with Nelson Riddle and Billy May, whose inventive arrangements certainly brought out the best in Sinatra's singing. This set's song selection is tough to argue with, but you'll really need to get all of Sinatra's Capitol albums to gauge the true measure of the man's artistry. ~ Dan Epstein

Technically, All the Best was the first compilation of McCartney's solo material, since Wings Greatest covered songs released under the Wings aegis. Well, there is considerable overlap between the two records – no less than ten of that album's 12 songs are here, yet only the hard-rocking "Hi Hi Hi" is truly missed – although the seven new songs do give this album a different character, for better or worse…

All the Best certainly lives up to its title, offering 17 of Leo Sayer's most popular pop efforts, including each of his Top 40 singles. Beginning with "The Show Must Go On," a frolicking vaudeville-type number with Russ Ballard playing banjo and a number four hit for Three Dog Night, the set entertainingly works its way through the years to reveal Sayer's adeptness at singing ballads and his overly effective pop melodramatics. The disco-flavored "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing" was a number one hit for him in 1976, followed by the syrupy "When I Need You," which accomplished the same feat only four months later. Both singles came from Endless Flight, a platinum seller that also yielded a minor hit with "How Much Love," and would prove to be Sayer's strongest album.
