Jay Alansky aka A Reminiscent Drive originally released this album on the French label F Commmunications, at the height of the 'French touch' movement in House and electronic music - mainly from Paris. Although it first saw the light of day 17 years ago, "Ambrosia" sounds as rich, fresh and innovative today as it did in the year 2000. Jay Alanski uses electronics in subtle and unusual ways, creating songs that are also soundscapes and mood pieces. In fact most of the album literally sounds unearthly, with the few vocals suspended in a cloud of electronics.
'Ambrosia' is compiled by Fishimself and consists of 10 tracks composed by mainly Greek artists, whose names were seldom heard of, but who should quickly reach the pantheon of Psychill. The compilation forms a dense musical journey built upon warm, downtempo grooves with a touch of electronica, breakbeat and idm, wrapped in hypnotic atmospheres, pulsating basslines and melancholic pads. Featuring Max Million and Gusk, Miktek, Sygnals, Sesen, Alpha Tek, Memphidos, One Arc Degree, and two French guests, Aes Dana and Asura.
Arthur Stewart "Art" Farmer (August 21, 1928 – October 4, 1999) was an American jazz trumpeter and flugelhorn player. He also played flumpet, a trumpet–flugelhorn combination specially designed for him. He and his identical twin brother, double bassist Addison Farmer, started playing professionally while in high school. Art gained greater attention after the release of a recording of his composition "Farmer's Market" in 1952. He subsequently moved from Los Angeles to New York, where he performed and recorded with musicians such as Horace Silver, Sonny Rollins, and Gigi Gryce and became known principally as a bebop player.
