An electrifying stew of hard rock, biker rock, Southern rock, and keyboard rock (we're talking 1983 after all), Nemesis may easily be Axe's defining statement: The band wants nothing more than airwave domination and to come into your town to help you party down. Ripped opener "Heat in the Street" bears a similar title to "Rock 'N' Roll Party in the Streets," Axe's biggest-ever hit from their previous offering, Offering (the CD reissue erroneously christens the song "Heat in the Night" but all that matters is Nemesis made it to disc), yet despite the obvious leitmotif, nothing can touch this red-hot, hard luck, fugitive tale which takes every right turn while crashing and burning in a league with the immortal Motörhead; Axe is always geared for the radio, though, throwing in keys and vocoder for a walloping slab of two-ton American rock.
Lillian Axe is a hard rock band from New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, best known for its major label albums, Lillian Axe, Love + War, Poetic Justice and "Psychoschizophrenia". Originally formed in 1983, the group is still active, though only the guitarist Steve Blaze remains from the original line-up. Poetic Justice is the third studio album by the American glam metal band Lillian Axe, released in 1992.
On the edge of insanity in December, Friday the 13th, we see through the eyes of Lizzy Borden. This live concert video was captured on the final night of the band's tremendously successful 1985 "Love You To Pieces" American tour at the Country Club in Los Angeles before a capacity crowd which stood to bare witness to a theatrical spectacular for their eyes only… until now. With songs taken from their two studio albums, as well as a special "Bordenized" version of "Live And Let Die", this is Lizzy Borden live - The Murdereress Metal Road Show! [Notes on the DVD]
G3: Live In Concert matches six-time Grammy Award nominee Joe Satriani with three-time Grammy nominee Steve Vai, and Grammy winner Eric Johnson. The CD documents the group's 1996 North American tour, and features three tracks apiece by each of the guitarists as well as three no-holds-barred jams featuring all three axe-men. G3: Live In Concert is sure to please all lovers of guitar wizardry. This high-energy CD showcases the eclectic compositional skills of the three men, with tracks featuring everything from pumped-up fusion grooves to funk-infused rhythms and jazz-flavored numbers. Each tune, though, is really a vehicle for the soaring guitar pyrotechnics for which Vai, Satriani and Johnson are famous.
Every Song Tells A Story is sort of Randy Bachman unplugged. But there's nothing acoustic about Bachman's oeuvre. Even in these subdued renditions these songs rock. The video was compiled from two shows Randy and his band played in Vancouver last April. I had an opportunity to attend, but was on the opposite side of the country. The people who did attend look like they had a great time. The show starts with Bachman's last hit. Recorded originally in two versions with Neil Young on guitar and vocals, 'Prairie Town' is a history of Bachman, the Guess Who, Neil & the Squires, and the development of a rock scene in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
In the wake of Mötley Crüe's meteoric rise to superstardom in 1983 on the strength of their now classic album Shout at the Devil, a countless amount of other similarly styled theatrical metal bands cropped up in the Los Angeles heavy metal community, including Lizzy Borden. This is a classic show, a Great Band and their music, some props - a classic. This album captures Lizzy Borden at their musical and creative peak.
