Ancient Ferguson

Miguel Atwood-Ferguson—the Los Angeles musician and composer best known for his work with Brainfeeder artists like Flying Lotus, Thundercat, and Kamasi Washington—has announced his debut solo album. Les Jardins Mystiques Vol. 1 is out November 10 via Brainfeeder. The collection is a three-disc set with 52 songs across three and a half hours.

A 1957 session of traditional music recorded in anticipation that folk music would be the next big trend. Frances Faye is accompanied by brass and strings arranged by Russ Garcia and a band that includes Maynard Ferguson and Don Fagerquist on trumpets, Frank Rosolino on trombone and Mel Lewis on drums.

Today, the inimitable jazz vocalist, activist, and nominal godfather of the LA jazz scene, Dwight Trible, returns with the announcement of his new album “Ancient Future”. Out 17th March via London jazz aficionados and analog specialists Gearbox Records , the new record follows his critically acclaimed album “Mothership”, which was released in 2019 and saw him collaborate with the likes of Kamasi Washington, Mark de Clive-Lowe, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, and more.
