Comedy-drama about a middle-aged Italian businessman Vittorio Gassman who is married to Eleanor Parker and is innocently introduced one day to a schoolgirl with pigtails named Carolina. Years later, the schoolgirl has become a promiscuous young woman (Ann-Margret) and she pursues him and sucks him into an on-again-off-again romantic tryst where she pulls the strings. "Kitten with a Whip - Italian Style!"

Jean-Louis Trintignant plays a french contract assassin hired by a Los Angeles crime family, ostensibly to perform a hit on some other mafia target. But simultaneously, as he arrives to do his job, a slaying occurs inside the household of the mob boss supposed to employ him. Suspicion is deliberately cast against Trintignant from within that very family. From that moment on, Trintignant is on the run from the police, and the minions of two different mob families. What makes his escape hazardous is that the real murderer shares all the information known about him to aid in his capture and death.

The film traces the sexual and emotional confusion of two men from their Amherst College days in the fifties through the Kennedy sixties. Jonathan, a successful tax attorney and Sandy, a physician, personify two extremes of self-delusion and self-aggrandizement: Jonathan makes the mistake of thinking sex is love, and embarks on a lifetime of sexual conquest; Sandy dedicates himself to the pursuit of an idealized woman and the dreamy spiritual completeness to be found therein.

Director Burt Kennedy lends a gentle giddyap to this soft-hearted John Wayne western. The plot concerns Lane (Wayne) and an assortment of old-time buddies – including Jesse (Ben Johnson) and Grady (Rod Taylor) – to help Mrs. Lilly Lowe (Ann-Margret). It seems that some time in the past, her deceased husband had stolen half a million dollars in gold and buried it in the Mexican desert, and only she knows where it's been hidden. Lane and his friends don't want the gold, but the reward money for its return. Lilly wants the gold found so that she can clear her good name. But, unfortunately, the Good Samaritans find themselves menaced by a viscous outlaw band and a cool-headed Pinkerton man (Ricardo Montalban).

A young man (Donald) is dying of AIDS. His lover (James) asks his mother (Audrey) to go to Fayetteville, Arkansas and tell Donald's mother, who has been estranged from her son for years.

In 1930s New Orleans, the Cincinnati Kid, a young stud poker player who travels from one big game to the next, stopping along the way up with various girls, is pitted against the legendary champion card-sharp Lancey Howard in a high-stakes poker game.
