After having left the ensemble of Charles Mingus and upon working with John Coltrane, Eric Dolphy formed a short-lived but potent quintet with trumpeter Booker Little, who would pass away three months after this recording. Despite all of the obstacles and subsequent tragedy, this quintet became legendary over the years – justifiably so – and developed into a role model for all progressive jazz combos to come. The combined power of Dolphy and Little – exploring overt but in retrospect not excessive dissonance and atonality – made them a target for critics but admired among the burgeoning progressive post-bop scene.

A Love Supreme was released by Impulse! Records in January 1965 and became a top-selling album for Coltrane, as well as one of jazz's most critically acclaimed recordings. Since then, it has often been viewed as one of the greatest albums of all time, a deeply spiritual work, and Coltrane's masterpiece.

"Arhontorembetika" (rembetika of the bourgeoise) was the name given to a special style of songs of the 50's that were "rebetika" written by composers of the, so called, light (european style) song. They were really very beautiful songs, with a humoristic mood, ideal for happy and joyful nights, with lot of laugh, wine, dance and flirt. The great singer Vicky Mosholiou, one of the best and most beloved in Greece, recorded 2 CD with popular "arhontorembetika", that made a huge success. This excellent collection includes, in addition to Mosholiou's songs, other happy songs, that represent the "lighter" side of folk and rembetiko composers.
