Avengers

The Avengers are Earth's mightiest heroes and foremost super-team which formed when there came a day, a day unlike any other, when Earth's mightiest heroes found themselves united against a common threat. On that day, the Avengers were born - to fight the foes no single super hero could withstand! Heed the call, then - for now, the Avengers Assemble!

"Avengers Assemble!" Thus goes the battle cry of the Marvel superhero team labeled as "Earth's Mightiest Heroes", The Avengers. Like so many of the Marvel Universe roster of super heroes, they were created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist/co-plotter Jack Kirby and made their debut in The Avengers #1 (Sep 1963). After the conclusion of the recent Siege story arc, which also ended the Dark Reign storyline, all four of the then-current Avengers series (consisting of "Mighty Avengers," "New Avengers," "Dark Avengers," and "Avengers: The Initiative") were canceled and this new ongoing series--now Volume 4 in library terms--simply titled, was launched in May 2010. Brian Michael Bendis and John Romita, Jr. serve as regular writer and artist, respectively. This is considered the flagship Avengers title, and its launch marks the beginning of the super-storyline "Heroic Age", where, after seven years of grim storylines, the heroes go back to being Heroes once again, a throwback to the early days of Marvel.

Taking place in Marvel's main shared universe, the Marvel Universe, the series is written by Matt Fraction with Brian Michael Bendis consulting. The first issue of the crossover, the one-shot was released in June 24, 2009. After a mutant riot in San Francisco, Norman Osborn tries to enforce peace by creating his own team of Dark X-Men to serve in much the same way the Dark Avengers did, and using both his teams to bring down the real X-Men. The main thesis of the storyline thus is the establishment of a safehaven known as Utopia for mutantkind and the struggle in realizing it. All Minutemen scans.

is an American comic book series published by Marvel Comics that is part of a series of titles that have featured various iterations of the superhero team the Avengers. Unusually, the series stars a version of the team that, unknown to the public in its fictional universe, contains several members who are supervillains disguised as established superheroes.
