Illumination, Universal Pictures & Republic Records announce SING 2 (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) releasing 12/17. It accompanies the new chapter in Illumination’s animated franchise, SING 2, hitting theaters on 12/22. The soundtrack includes a new U2 track & Bono makes his animated film debut as the voice of Clay. The soundtrack also includes tracks from Halsey, Pharrell, Anitta & Billie Eilish, with performances by cast members Tori Kelly, Scarlett Johansson, Reese Witherspoon, & more.

At long last! World premiere release of oft-requested James Newton Howard score to Joel Schumacher's Falling Down. Dark, violent urban thriller stars Michael Douglas as tragic protagonist on rampage, heading inexorably towards final showdown with retiring cop Robert DuVall. As confrontations grow in intensity, Douglas becomes increasingly unhinged. Howard follows in tow, with initially sparse score growing increasingly dense, clustered as film progresses. Dark ideas, intense action all have their say. Highlights are many, including riveting chase cues, pulsating conflict music, but one standout motif deserves spotlight: Howard writes moving minor-key trumpet solo that plays just once during "not economically viable" scene ("Miracle Mile"), then disappears completely until conclusion ("Falling Down"), where composer now brings film and score together in brilliant, powerful fashion. Sensational writing! Also worthy of attention: haunting series of string chords shifting between minor, major, playing for estranged relationship between everyman Douglas and wife Barbara Hershey. Howard even quotes nursery rhyme "London Bridge", which subtly relates to cop Duvall's own wife Tuesday Weld, who needs the tune to help calm her troubled nerves. It is difficult to overstate dramatic complexities and thematic subtleties of this important music.

Wallfisch has created a vibrant soundtrack to the film, which tells us we all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In this case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM! —a streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam, courtesy of an ancient wizard. Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana.

The official soundtrack for the documentary Stans has been released on streaming services. There are no new tracks on it, but there are several live versions of Stan and the unreleased track "Everybody's Looking At Me," which fans know as "that song that played in the Kiss skit from The Eminem Show."

I thoroughly enjoyed Once Upon a Time's musical episode. I immediately had the songs stuck in my head, so I had to purchase all of them to satisfy my head. I was so impressed by everyone's singing. I had no idea they had musical talent. My favorite is Captain Hook's song–I loved the lyrics, execution, and humor. My least favorite was Emma's–but I think that because I felt the link to that song in her childhood to her parents and then to present, was weak. I also didn't care for the Queen, Snow, and Charming mash-up. But the rest of the songs make-up for it.

It’s no secret that one of the biggest, and pinkest, movies of the summer is Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. Starring Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, and a whole host of A-list actors, the movie is set to explore Barbie’s connection to the real world and how she becomes more than just a doll.

Promotion for the first two iterations of the Bad Boys movie series, 1995’s Bad Boys and 2003’s Bad Boys II, were were bolstered in each instance by an era-defining jam. For Bad Boys, it was the crossover dancehall hit “Shy Guy” by Diana King. Bad Boys II had Diddy, Nelly, and Murphy Lee’s beach-party-ready rap anthem “Shake Ya Tailfeather.” If the initial marketing efforts for Bad Boys for Life were slow to pair the film with any one song, it might be because the breadth of genres across the soundtrack lends itself to the sounds of Miami, the franchise’s location playing nearly as big a role as Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

All newly-remastered and expanded 4-CD set with nearly a half hour of previously unreleased score! Spectacular action-adventure from Morgan Creek Productions and Warner Bros brings legendary figures to life: Robin of Locksley, Maid Marian, Little John, the sheriff of Nottingham, Friar Tuck, Will Scarlett, Sir Guy of Gisborne, King Richard “The Lionheart”… all vividly drawn by top actors Kevin Costner, Alan Rickman, Morgan Freeman, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Michael Wincott, Christian Slater, Sean Connery, others. Michael Kamen launches with now-familiar cello rhythms, leading into French horn fanfares and rousing trumpet-led main theme. Love theme for Robin and Marian is both tender and sweeping, depending on settings involved. But front and center throughout are incredibly exciting action sequences. Brass parts are extraordinarily challenging, and taxing, for players but listeners scoop the rewards! Originally a single CD from Morgan Creek with two songs and eight generous score selections, Intrada greatly expanded lavish score into 2-CDs in 2018, however, several key sequences were missing from master elements and could not be included… until now!
