Pave The Earth is a 1900 sampler CD made by A&M Records. It explores new and then-upcoming music the label had worked on or were working to release, with material from Soundgarden, Blues Traveler, Del Amitri, Intelligent Hoodlum, Sun Ra. Suzanne Vega, and many more.

Impulse!/Verve present “The Passion of Charlie Parker”, an album of iconic Parker songs transformed through the addition of lyrics to create a musical play that narrates Bird’s life. Produced by Larry Klein with lyrics by David Baerwald, the album features actor Jeffrey Wright in the role of Parker as narrator, with vocals provided by Wright, Gregory Porter, Madeleine Peyroux, Melody Gardot, Barbara Hannigan, Luciana Souza, Kurt Elling and Camille Bertault.

Norwegian songwriter Thomas Dybdahl has added the final touches to his 7th solo album "The Great Plains" in Propeller Studio in Oslo, and will be released four years after "What's Left Is Forever" debuted on top of the Norwegian sales charts and was nominated for a Grammy in the US. This time, Thomas has worked with producer Kare Vestrheim and songwriters Ingrid Helene Havik (Highasakite), Nina Nielsen, Oystein Greni, David Baerwald and David Poe.

Meredith Brooks' debut album, Blurring the Edges is one of the most blatant examples of post-Alanis Morissette marketing by the record industry. At her musical core, Brooks is more like Sheryl Crow – namely, a classic rocker with slightly edgy lyrics. She even works with producer David Ricketts, the former partner of Crow's Tuesday Night Music Club collaborator, David Baerwald. Ricketts gives Blurring the Edges a radio-friendly polish, one that glosses over any of the grit in Brooks' songs. And on the album's first single, "Bitch," Brooks and Ricketts devise an Alanis clone, from the semi-profane lyrics to the caterwauling chorus. "Bitch" isn't indicative of the rest of the album, which is considerably calmer and aimed at adult alternative stations, and while she fits neatly into the confines of that format, she doesn't really do anything to distinguish herself from the legions of similar post-alternative singer/songwriters. Blurring the Edges isn't necessarily a bad album – Brooks is a competent melodicist and her lyrics are occasionally promising – yet it isn't a distinctive one.

Peyrouxs new album, Anthem, finds the singer-songwriter collaborating with writers/musicians Patrick Warren (Bonnie Raitt, JD Souther, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Lana Del Rey, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers), Brian MacLeod (Sara Bareilles, Leonard Cohen, Tina Turner, Ziggy Marley) and David Baerwald (Joni Mitchell, David and David, Sheryl Crow), who are also the basic rhythm section players on the album.
