Highlights of a unique gathering of eclectic artists at Air Studios in London to celebrate the songs and composers of the Great American Songbook. Performers are Paolo Nutini, Melody Gardot, Claire Martin, Jose James, Sharleen Spiteri, Krystle Warren, and Gwyneth Herbert.

Prince: A Purple Reign is a BBC Four documentary released in 2011, as part of the network's Black Music Legends Of The 1980's series. It features music and interviews with people associated with Prince, along with clips of interviews when Prince did grant interviews.

The BBC Radio Big Band is a British big band run under the auspices of the BBC. It consists of professional jazz musicians and is directed by arranger and composer Barry Forgie, who has been conducting the band on a regular basis since 1977. Widely regarded as the UK’s leading and most versatile jazz orchestra, the band broadcasts on BBC Radio, particularly on BBC Radio 2's long running series Big Band Special.

No, Howard Riley is as unique as he is steeped in the jazz tradition but then, if you’re a fan, you know this already. Between 1968-1974, Riley released four trio albums with a fifth set of performances from 1974/5 appearing as Overground on Emanem in 2001. All are essential. All of those albums featured bass-meister Barry Guy, while the drum chair was occupied first by Jon Hiseman, then Alan ‘AJ’ Jackson and latterly by Tony Oxley. The first of these sets, all from BBC broadcasts with excellent sound, has Hiseman behind the kit, the others Jackson. If you are new to Howard Riley’s music, this could well be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
