Off The Beatle Track showcases songs the Beatles composed in the early sixties, but never released as a working band. Apple Jam has embodied each track with an authentic Beatles sound, as if the Liverpool songwriters had released these songs themselves. "We used the same microphones, gear, and studio techniques of the period. Our goal was to make the album sound just like an early Beatles record, between With The Beatles and A Hard Day's Night", says founding member Rick Lovrovich. Apple Jam was formed in 2005 in support of (Just Like) Starting Over, a stage play based on John Lennon's final interview.

The Count and his orchestra tackle the music of the Fab Four, without any hint of condescension or lassitude. Indeed, the 11 songs by John Lennon and Paul McCartney and one ("Kansas City") by Leiber & Stoller are treated with the same kind of dignity and enthusiasm that the band would give to the likes of Johnny Mercer or Harold Arlen. "Kansas City" is the bluesiest number here, and the one with which the band is obviously the most comfortable - it's the only number here that could have appeared, as is, on any Basie album of the previous decade. But "Michelle" is the best track here, a gently swinging rendition in which Basie's piano is featured in some pleasing flourishes and the band slips into a satisfying groove…

A complete 4CD boxset from the source of the 1963 radio series "Pop Goes The Beatles"
From January 1963, The Beatles regularly pulled in U.K. audiences of around ten million on "Saturday Club" and a myriad of other BBC pop shows, until they received the ultimate recognition from the B.B.C. when they were offered their own show, "Pop Go The Beatles".
For some groups, a series that demanded five new recordings each week might have been daunting, but it allowed The Beatles to air their influences, and try out some new favourites.
Pop Go The Beatles was broadcast in the summer of 1963 and this 4 CD set contains all sixteen episodes.
The show features the band taking requests, interacting with presenters Lee Peters (first four episodes) and Rodney Burke (all the other episodes), playing their favourite songs and most importantly, performing live. Whilst most of the Beatles performances here appear on the more extensive BBC collections, it’s a treat to hear these shows in their entirety (except they're not !). The Beatles hadn’t been to America yet and were still Britain’s best kept secret. The innocence of 1963 comes through in these recordings…you can tell they were still just having fun playing together.
An added bonus is the exhaustive 20 page booklet of sleeve notes, so detailed that it even transcribes all the between-song banter!

It was the logical extension of two of the most important and enduring pop music tributaries of the 1960s – the girl group sound and the garage band explosion, respectively – but the distaff garage rock scene has earned precious little documentation on record or in history books over the years. Romulan's long-running Girls in the Garage series has done much to rectify that oversight, however, compiling an astounding amount of prime crunch – the first CD volume in the series is also its strongest, adding 11 tracks to the 16 that made up the original vinyl. Like all garage collections, there are equal amounts killer and filler, and the joy of discovery is alone worth the price of admission – Denise & Co.'s "Boy, What Will You Do Then," the Belles' "Come Back," and Lydia Marcelle's "The Girl He Needs" are top-shelf by any standard, however, and the Continental Co-Ets' blistering instrumental "Melody of Junk" dismisses once and for all any lingering misconceptions that the girls couldn't rock as hard as the boys.

For most general rock fans, the Pete Best story ends on August 16, 1962. That's when Beatles manager Brian Epstein told the unfortunate drummer that he was being replaced by Ringo Starr, just weeks before the group would record their first single. Most fans don't know that Best did continue to perform and record for a few years, usually as the leader of his own group, and usually for cheapo companies eager to exploit his notoriety as an ex-Beatle. Certainly these discs are of little interest to anyone besides Beatle/British Invasion obsessives. But if you're on that path already, you might find them – and indeed the whole Pete Best solo chapter – more interesting than you would expect.

Here at Elefant we are fervent believers in poetic justice. It couldn’t be any other way. We have the clear example of Nick Garrie and the well-deserved second youth his incredible “The Nightmare Of J.B. Stanislas” experienced. We believe that “Uma Tarde Na Fruteira” deserves the same thing, and we are going to celebrate the 15th anniversary of its release to reclaim it with a new Deluxe Edition that includes 6 additional tracks. Because the figure of the songwriter and creator, Flávio Basso (aka Júpiter Maça, or Woody Apple, or as he signed his first international album with Elefant Records, Jupiter Apple), requires revisiting 7 years after his death, at just 47 years old.

Released in 1995, Jimmy Nichol And The Beatles is a bootleg compilation CD of the moment in 1964 when Jimmy Nicol temporarily replaced Ringo Starr as a drummer, when he had tonsillitis pharyngitis, which lead to him having to get his tonsils removed. This is a chance to hear the only man who temporarily released a Beatle in a live setting. This was released by Desperado Records.
