Following the successful release last year of The Fall of Gondolin, the closing segment of the series of 'epic scenes' drawn from J R R Tolkien's posthumous writings for The Silmarillion, Prima Facie Records in collaboration with Volante Opera Productions now presents a recording on 2 CDs of Beren and Lúthien, Part Two of Paul Corfield Godfrey's cycle written during the period 1982-97 and employing a large variety of posthumously published texts by the author with the permission of the Tolkien Estate.

In the space between expectation and surprise, you will find Dutch-Belgian acoustic-electronic piano trio de beren gieren (The Bear Vultures), providing robust evidence that gold can still be mined from the union of piano, bass and drums. Based on the compositions of pianist Fulco Ottervanger, the trio use the power of improvisation on the quest for a new form and create a multi-layered, kaleidoscopic work of art.

"The Ljubljana Jazz Festival has the good policy to program either veterans or newcomers who already proved their value, and here is the recording of the incendiary concert presented at the 2014 edition of that event by young piano jazz trio De Beren Gieren. After collaborations with the likes of Ernst Reijseger, Louis Sclavis and Jan Klare, this time the Belgian improvisers Fulco Ottervanger, Lieven Van Pee and Simon Segers have Portuguese trumpeter Susana Santos Silva as special guest.
