It topped the album chart in both the United States and the United Kingdom, staying at #1 for ten consecutive weeks in the former nation and eleven weeks in the latter. It was the best-selling album of 1975 in the United States, and is his best-selling album to date, being his first to have received an RIAA diamond certification for US sales of more than 10 million copies – as of April 2016 the album has been certified for 17 million units in the US. It remains John's best-selling album and one of the best-selling albums of all time, with 24 million copies sold worldwide.

Greatest Hits is a compilation album by the American rock band Heart. This compilation collects Heart's hits from 1975 through 1983, with one all-new studio recording, the Diane Warren-penned "Strong, Strong Wind", the song also recorded by Air Supply for their 1997 album The Book of Love. The collection, which was limited to release in the U.S. and Japan, acted as a 'first volume' of two greatest hits releases, the companion being the widely released Greatest Hits: 1985–1995 (2000). Other territories confusingly experienced the Capitol Records release of These Dreams - Heart's Greatest Hits (1997) instead of this collection, which featured a selection of tracks from 1976–1995.

Originally released in 1980 to coincide with the Jim Morrison biography No One Here Gets Out Alive, the life of Greatest Hits began as a ten-track release on vinyl that acted as a very succinct introduction to the Doors, with several of the band's most enduring songs – "Light My Fire," "Break on Through," "Touch Me," "Hello, I Love You," "Riders on the Storm" – included…

Drawn from the first four of five albums the band cut for Epic during the mid- to late '70s, Greatest Hits is a dynamic selection, highlighted by the two hits Sailor scored during 1975-1976 but in no way dominated by them…

It goes without saying that The Best of the Byrds: Greatest Hits, Vol. 2 doesn't have as many classic singles as the group's first hits collection, since the Byrds stopped being a singles band shortly after the release of Greatest Hits.

First rule of greatest-hits albums: start things off with a bang, not a song that takes about a minute to get off the ground, and about 80 seconds before the vocals kick in. "Carousel" may be a chronologically accurate way to begin blink-182's Greatest Hits, yet it gets things off to a slow start but then again, blink-182 hardly sped out of the gate themselves. It took them a long time to get up to speed it wasn't until their third album, 1997's Dude Ranch, that they developed a flair for sugary pop hooks, as evidenced by that album's "Dammit," not just their first big hit, but their first memorable song. It was enough to buy them a ticket to the big leagues and their next album, 1999's Enema of the State, turned into a blockbuster, thanks to the crossover Top Ten hit "All the Small Things," an incessantly catchy, irresistible slice of bubblegum-pop that sounded at ease sandwiched between *NSYNC and Britney Spears on Y2K radio.
