MR. BIG will release its tenth studio album, 'Ten', on Friday, July 12 featuring 11 new original tracks! In a tribute to their late drummer Pat Torpey, Martin, Gilbert, and bassist Billy Sheehan have enlisted the exceptional talents of Nick D'Virgilio on drums for 'Ten', which was produced by Jay Ruston and MR. BIG. In the midst of their final tour - The BIG Finish - MR. BIG, inspired by the legions of fans that shared in their goodbye over the past year, wanted to say a final farewell with the undertaking of a brand-new studio album. Culminating over three decades of musical partnership, Martin, Gilbert, and Sheehan, with the help of D’Virgilio, ignite their spark once more and take a new form with the forthcoming 'Ten'.

When Five Horse Johnson formed back in 1995, referring to themselves as a “blues band,” a few brows might well have been furrowed. But this is a band that has always understood that the blues isn’t a formula – it’s a way of looking at the world. Their take on the blooze is as a dirty, sensual thing, enhanced with a healthy dose of humor. Now some two decades and seven albums into their career – with eighth Jake Leg Boogie, set to drop in Summer 2017 on Small Stone – Five Horse Johnson have dug out a niche of their own, a genuine love and respect for traditional blues and classic rock leading them to likewise become one of the most loved and respected bands in the heavy rock underground. Always a freight train live, they’ve toured the US (with Clutch and Halfway to Gone) and Europe extensively (including the festival circuit), gathering fans, friends, and drinking partners all over the Western World.

Buford is joined on this CD with JSP session musicians Richard Studholme-guitar, Geoff Nichols-drums, Jack Hill-piano, and Bernice Lartwright-bass. Buford's harp playing is sharp and his vocals are reminiscent of the old delta blues performed by the Muddy Water's band. The lyrics are often witty and somewhat humorous with warnings to big leg women to keep their dress tail down on "Big Leg Woman" to his declaration that he has found a new way of loving his woman on "Deep Sea Diver". The liner notes indicate that Buford has essentially disappeared after this 1989 release and has not been heard of since. This is not the case. In actuality, Buford has released at least four other CD's on Blue Loon Records all of which are also recommended.
