Black Diamond

Chicago's Black Diamond debuts on We Jazz Records with their new album Furniture Of the Mind Rearranging on 5th July. Co-led by Artie Black and Hunter Diamond (composers, saxophones, and other woodwinds), Black Diamond appears in both quartet and duo formations. The first three album sides present the quartet, complete with long standing band members Matt Ulery (double bass) and Neil Hemphill (drums), under the heading Furniture Of the Mind. The remaining two tracks on side D fall under the title The Mind Rearranging, with Black and Diamond presenting a meditative duo encounter of two tenor saxophones.

Hunter Diamond is a saxophonist and creative musician living and performing in Chicago, IL. Through his compositions and improvisations, he maintains a consistent presence in the local creative music community. Recent appearances as a leader and sideman, respectively, at the Chicago Jazz Festival and Hyde Park Jazz Festival have solidified Hunter’s current status as a woodwind artist.

Black Diamond B280 is based on a Bsendorfer 280 Vienna Concert, also known as the Concert Grand 280VC. With a timbre all its own, Black Diamond B280 can easily convey darker moods while conserving the warm musicality for which the Austrian capital is celebrated.

Custom made loops created by Black Diamond Music. The Black Lotus Kit contains 26 loops with variations on most of these loops containing a total of: 64, 24bit WAV files from Trap, Hip Hop, R&B to some more Ambient loops, the kit contains it all!

Buraka Som Sistema is an electronic music project from Portugal, specializing in the kuduro genre, and are generally credited with creating the "progressive kuduro" variant and have been awarded an MTV European Music Award.
Black Diamond is Buraka Som Sistema's second album which was released in 2008.

Robert Forster's endearingly fey persona, equal parts Bryan Ferry and gangly bookstore clerk, reaches full flower on the Go-Betweens' fourth album, which tempers the angularity and occasional claustrophobia of the band's previous work with a new airiness and nervous romanticism. The lighter sound can be partly attributed to the growing influence of co-leader Grant McLennan, whose wistful "Cattle and Cane" and "Bachelor Kisses" lent grace to the Go-Betweens' sometimes stilted early records. McLennan's touch is all over Liberty Belle and the Black Diamond Express his "In the Core of a Flame," a love song that manages to be at once tenderhearted and impatient, is a highlight but this is still mostly Forster's show, and as such is a revelation.
