Forty Blue Fingers, Freshly Packed And Ready To Serve is the debut studio album by the British blues band Chicken Shack, says Wikipedia. It was recorded in the winter of 1968 and released around the time summer approched. The band featured organized Christine Perfect, who would leave the group with their follow-up album and become Christine McVie when she married Fleetwood mac bassist John McVie. Chicken Shack and Fleetwood Mac knew each other by being labelmates. Blue Horizon Records originally released this, who remastered and reissued it for compact disc in 1994 through Columbia as part of the Rewind series.

An acoustic trio, the Lost Fingers were based in Quebec City, Canada, and were known for their love of classic gypsy jazz and '80s pop hits. Their shows were a blending of both – seemingly disparate – styles, seeing the band cover hit '80s tunes as well as playing homage to such jazz legends as Django Reinhardt. Their reputation and skill won them a great many fans very quickly, and the group was to be found not too long after forming, playing some of the world's best-known festivals, including a ten-night stand at the Montreal Jazz Festival.

Dusty Fingers is the name of a series of compilation records of songs that are widely admired as breakbeats collected by Bronx DJ Danny Dann the Beat Mann. Some of the songs featured contain "open breaks" which are solo drum passages which enable DJs to easily transition into them. These are also attractive to producers, who loop or rearrange them to create new compositions. Following in the tradition of the Ultimate Breaks and Beats series, the Dusty Fingers records contain an eclectic range of musical styles: mainly funk and jazz, but also including soul, rock, disco, and pop. Many of the songs in the Dusty Fingers series have been sampled into new musical compositions, mainly by hip hop producers. Popular songs that sample songs from the Dusty Fingers series include "Guilty Conscience" by Eminem, "Find Your Wealth" by Nas, "Rowdy Rowdy" by 50 Cent, "Show Me What You Got" by Jay-Z, "Daydreamin'" by Lupe Fiasco, and "Dr. Carter" by Lil' Wayne.

Features the high-fidelity SHM-CD format (compatible with standard CD player) and the latest 24bit 192kHz remastering. A brilliantly bubbling session from Hammond genius John Patton – and a set that serves as a real link between the gutbucket soul of his early years, and some of the fresher phrasing he was beginning to explore at Blue Note! Patton's lines on the keys are a wonderful thing to behold (and behear!) – as they're both rhythmic, but extremely fluid and exploratory – more conceived around some of the new ideas on tenor at the time, and pushing forward roughly into the same territory as Larry Young – but with more of Patton's rootsy soul still intact.

This release from altoist Sonny Fortune is a particularly strong session, a mostly high-powered modal modern mainstream date with Fortune playing at his best and contributing five of the eight compositions. Trumpeter Eddie Henderson (who is filling the gap left by the ailing Freddie Hubbard) and tenor-saxophonist Joe Lovano are major assets on three songs (they both appear on "Glue Fingers" and the 17-minute "Thoughts" while playing one song apiece with Fortune in a quintet) but the focus is mostly on the leader and the rhythm section (which consists of pianist John Hicks, bassist Santi Debriano and drummer Jeff "Tain" Watts). For Sonny Fortune (who has been underrated throughout his career), this is a pretty definitive session.

Lou Busch was a major arranger/conductor who created an alter ego for himself in the guise of Joe 'Fingers' Carr, the ragtime and honky-tonk pianist. For the first time on one compilation we present both facets of the spectacular Lou Busch / Joe 'Fingers' Carr career. All of Joe 'Fingers' Carr's hits are included "Let's Do It Again!", "Music! Music! Music!", "Maple Leaf Rag", "Portuguese Washerwomen", "Sam's Song", "Down Yonder", "Tiger Rag", "Beer Barrel Polka", "The Old Piano Roll Blues" and many more! In addition are his great orchestral works plus his hit recordings with wife Margaret Whiting and all three tracks from Roger And Hammerstein's 'The King And I'.

The Mound City Blue Blowers originally made history with a dozen high-quality novelty recordings during 1924-25 that featured the trio of Red McKenzie's comb, Dick Slevin's kazoo and banjoist Jack Bland; guitarist Eddie Lang solidified the rhythm on their later six numbers. However, other than McKenzie's participation, those dates had little to do with the 25 recordings on this Classics CD, the last issued under the Mound City Blue Blowers' name. In fact, other than taking four vocals on the first date, McKenzie makes only cameo appearances on kazoo during the remainder of the program, although he had clearly organized the bands…

A collection of the legendary saxophonist’s sideman sessions for Blue Note Records from 1956-1957, when Coltrane was a regular member of the Miles Davis Quintet and played with pianist Thelonious Monk. This set, conceived by former Blue Note Records president Bruce Lundvall, marks the first time Coltrane’s sideman sessions for the label have been collected in one place; albums include recordings led by Paul Chambers (Chambers’ Music, a.k.a. High Step, and Whims of Chambers), Johnny Griffin (A Blowing Session) and Sonny Clark (Sonny’s Crib).
