Early film Godard and one of the most significant films of the French New Wave. In the fourth artistic director made a tape of his then-wife Anna Karina as Nana, the Parisian shop assistant, who after her divorce from her husband Paul (Labarthe) is trying to become an actress. After seeing a silent film classic Dreyer's The Passion of Joan of Arc ", it leaves the idea and becomes a prostitute. The film is divided into 12 images, which takes place in a cafe, store plates in a police station and on the streets of Paris. Scenes and raised topics ranging from prostitution (with the facts and figures) to the experiments with oral narrative and autobiographical elements (Godard read behind the scenes, Karina plays). In a typically dense and provocative style of Godard, we also see many references to films and literature ( "Nana" Renoir's "Nana" Zola, "Jules and Jim Truffaut, Dreyer and Falconetti, and" The Oval Portrait "by Edgar Allen), as well as enthusiastic discussion on the linguistic philosophy with Bryce Pareyn).

En juin 1944, Albert Quentin, ancien fusilier-marin en Indochine, tient, avec sa femme Suzanne, l’hôtel Stella dans le village de Tigreville, sur la côte normande. Il se laisse souvent aller à trop boire, ce qui le porte à la nostalgie de ses séjours en Chine. Lors d’un bombardement, il promet à Suzanne de ne plus boire si l’hôtel échappe à la destruction ; promesse tenue. Quinze ans plus tard, débarque Gabriel Fouquet, publicitaire. Il boit pour effacer l’échec de sa vie sentimentale, « voyager » en Espagne et rêver de tauromachie. Il vient voir sa fille Marie qui vit dans un pensionnat de Tigreville. Les deux hommes, qui n’ont pas « le vin petit ni la cuite mesquine », vont connaître deux jours d’évasion grâce à l’ivresse, l’un en Espagne et l’autre en Chine ; l’apothéose étant un feu d’artifice « dantesque » sur la plage. Puis chacun retournera à sa vie d’avant.

"La Victoire en chantant" est un film français réalisé par Jean-Jacques Annaud, sorti sur les écrans en 1976. Le titre est emprunté au Chant du départ, que l'on entend pendant le générique. Il reçut l'Oscar du meilleur film étranger aux États-Unis en 1977, ce qui motiva une nouvelle sortie en France sous le titre "Noirs et Blancs en couleurs", traduction du titre anglais "Black and White in Color". L'action se situe en Afrique occidentale à la frontière entre les limites d'influence d'un poste militaire français et d'un poste militaire allemand, au début de 1915. Les deux postes cohabitent parfaitement. Le poste allemand, plus petit, vient se ravitailler auprès d'une épicerie du poste français tenue par Paul Rechampot (Jacques Dufilho). Les coloniaux manifestent un certain mépris pour les indigènes. Les missionaires ne sont intéressés que par propager la foi à tout prix. Les militaires ont enrolé des indigènes pour constituer des troupes.
The inaugural film effort of French director Jean-Jacques Annaud, Black and White in Color is set during World War I. Upon the outbreak of hostilities, a French trading post in West Central Africa finds itself at odds with a formerly peaceful German post, for no other reason than their parent countries are at war. The newly xenophobic French traders attack the Germans, only to fail in their efforts. Socialist Jacques Spiesser is put in charge of the debilitated French contingent, utterly discarding his former high ideals in the process. Filmed on location on the Ivory Coast, the satirical Black and White in Color (originally La Victoire en Chantant) won the American Academy Award for Best Foreign Film of 1976. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

A la suite d'une maladie, Helen Keller, une petite fille de sept ans, perd l'usage de la parole, de la vue et de l'ouïe. Ses parents font alors appel à Annie Sullivan, une jeune éducatrice, pour ramener l'enfant à une vie normale. Mais celle-ci va devoir face à l'hostilité d'Helen et de ses parents effrayés par ses méthodes.
Young Helen Keller, blind, deaf, and mute since infancy, is in danger of being sent to an institution. Her inability to communicate has left her frustrated and violent. In desperation, her parents seek help from the Perkins Institute, which sends them a "half-blind Yankee schoolgirl" named Annie Sullivan to tutor their daughter. Through persistence and love, and sheer stubbornness, Annie breaks through Helen's walls of silence and darkness and teaches her to communicate.
