From the release of their first album in 1974, Bad Company were one of the biggest hard rock bands of the '70s. Featuring former members of Free (vocalist Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke), Mott the Hoople (guitarist Mick Ralphs), and King Crimson (bassist Boz Burrell), Bad Company's straightforward but swaggering attack earned them a steady run of hits. While Bad Company never released a live album with their classic lineup, Atlantic/Rhino Records has delivered something special for the group's fans.

When originally issued in the summer of 1972, Earthbound was the first authorized live recording from this no longer extant incarnation of the band. This album documents King Crimson's stateside performances earlier in that year. However, what is lacked in fidelity is more than compensated for with raw, unrelenting energy and magnetic musicianship. At the time of their then-most-recent studio effort, Islands (1971), King Crimson comprised Robert Fripp (guitar), Mel Collins (sax/Mellotron), Boz Burrell (bass/vocals), and Ian Wallace (drums). The quartet's strength as improvisational members of a cohesive central unit are amply displayed throughout every sonic twist and turn. The collection likewise demonstrates their intuitive instrumental prowess on familiar album tracks such as the blistering reading of "21st Century Schizoid Man" as well as an extended "The Sailor's Tale"…

Detroit Diesel portrays Alvin Lee in more mature and relaxed mood. This collection of 10 tracks includes cuts that range from Blues romps to funky jams. His astonishing technique is still well displayed, but the material gives him a chance to stretch out and groove in a style closer to the Rolling Stones than Ten Years After. An all-star collection of old mates - such as Jon Lord, Joe Brown and George Harrison - make guest appearances, but the heavy duty backing work is carried out by Tim Hinkley (keyboards), Steve Gould (guitar), the late Boz Burrell (bass) and Bryson Graham (drums), who cook up a smokin' rhythm section.

Formed in 1973, the British hard rock outfit Bad Company was a supergroup comprising ex-King Crimson bassist Boz Burrell, former Mott the Hoople guitarist Mick Ralphs, and singer Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke, both previous members of Free. Powered by Rodgers' muscular vocals and Ralphs' blues-based guitar work, Bad Company was the first group signed to Led Zeppelin's Swan Song vanity label. Their eponymous 1974 debut was an international hit, topping the U.S. album charts and scoring with the number one single "Can't Get Enough of Your Love." Straight Shooter, issued the following year, was another major success, notching the hit "Feel Like Makin' Love," while 1976's Run with the Pack was Bad Company's third consecutive million-selling record. After 1977's Burnin' Sky, Bad Company recorded 1979's Desolation Angels, which embellished the group's sound with synthesizers and strings; a three-year hiatus followed before the release of Rough Diamonds, the group's final LP in its original incarnation. In 1986, Ralphs and Kirke resurrected the Bad Company name, enlisting former Ted Nugent vocalist Brian Howe to replace Rodgers.

Bad Company recorded four classic albums in as many years, giving rise to some of the most recognizable rock songs of the Seventies, including "Rock Steady," "Run With The Pack" and the Grammy-nominated, "Feel Like Makin' Love." After releasing remastered and expanded versions of their first two albums in 2015, the band will return this spring with deluxe editions of their next two albums from that incredible run. Run With The Pack (1976) and Burnin' Sky (1977) have been newly remastered from the original production tapes. Each has been expanded with rare and unreleased recordings taken from the original album sessions. The CD versions of these Deluxe Editions include all of the new bonus tracks, while their 180-gram vinyl counterparts offer a selection of the bonus material.

Born and raised in London, the Beatles perked a teenage Simon's interest in rock music, and he picked up the drums - leading to a gig with a local band called the Maniacs, on which Simon supplied drums and lead vocals (something quite uncommon at the time). Simon worked out a deal with his parents after graduating high school, that if he couldn't "make it" as a drummer in a band within a two-year period, that he would begin a college career. Just a few months before the deadline, Simon landed a gig with a group called the Black Cat Bones. The drummer befriended the group's talented guitarist, Paul Kossoff, who in turn convinced Simon to leave the group with him and begin a new outfit with singer Paul Rodgers.
