Composer Brett Detar is reuniting with director William Brent Bell on the upcoming horror sequel Brahms: The Boy 2. The film starring Katie Holmes, Christopher Convery, Owain Yeoman and Ralph Ineson centers on a young family that moves into Heelshire Mansion, unaware of its dark history, as the young child bonds with an eerie, life-like doll he calls Brahms. Stacey Menear who scripted the first movie wrote the screenplay. Tom Rosenberg & Gary Lucchesi (Underworld, The Lincoln Lawyer) and Eric Reid (Peppermint) are producing the project for Lakeshore Entertainment, alongside Matt Berenson (Daddy Day Care), Jim Wedaa (Unstoppable) and Roy Lee (It, The Lego Movie). Detar has previously collaborated with Bell (Stay Alive) on the features The Devil Inside and Wer. The original 2016 The Boy movie was scored by Bear McCreary. Brahms: The Boy 2 is currently scheduled to be released on December 6, 2019 by STX Entertainment.

Never content to rest comfortably within one genre of music – composer, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Brett Detar currently splits his time between writing and recording film scores and releasing albums of original songs. He’s known for his musical shape-shifting, evocative sense of melody, and distinctive vocals. Writing and performing his first songs at the age of 6 and beginning piano training shortly thereafter Detar became a full-time professional at 19 joining the seminal hardcore-metal band Zao as guitarist, bassist, & songwriter. Simultaneously he founded indie-alt-emo-rock pioneers The Juliana Theory where he handled lead vocals, keys, programming, guitar, songwriting, and eventually recording duties.

Itzhak Perlman: The Complete Warner Recordings embraces every aspect of Perlman's art. It contains concertos (the ‘essential' concertos, of course, but also more rarely-heard works, including Perlman's own commissions from living composers); other pieces for violin and orchestra; chamber music; recital and crossover repertoire (including jazz, ragtime and klezmer), and even a disc that focuses on Perlman as narrator and (briefly) opera singer. The recordings document his collaborations with the world's greatest orchestras and an array of superlative fellow-soloists and conductors, including Martha Argerich, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Daniel Barenboim, Plácido Domingo, Carlo Maria Giulini, Bernard Haitink, Lynn Harrell, Yo Yo Ma, Zubin Mehta, Seiji Ozawa, André Previn and Pinchas Zukerman.

Born in Leipzig, Backhaus was the son of a well-known architect. He began learning piano at the age of four with his mother, an amateur pianist. The boy's talent was soon recognized by Arthur Nikisch, at whose recommendation Backhaus studied under Alois Reckendorf at the Leipzig Conservatory between 1891 and 1899, then took private piano lessons with Eugen d'Albert in Frankfurt. As a boy of 9 or 10 he was taken to hear both of the Brahms piano concertos performed by d'Albert — and conducted by Brahms himself. He made his first concert tour at the age of sixteen. In 1900 he went to England and in 1901 played for the first time in Manchester at the Gentleman's Concerts.

Ameling, one of the world's most beloved recitalists is captured here in a 5 CD collection offering some of her most beautiful recordings of song. While we are used to her perfection in songs of Bach, Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Faure and Hahn, an added joy is her "pop" side, tackling - without a whiff of pretension, Porter, Kern, Gershwin, Ellington, et al. What an absolute joy it is listening to this amazing artist sing these songs with an almost uncanny natural ease. There is no resorting to a "pop" voice and yet most of these pop standards songs sound as though they could have been written for her. Clean attacks, sometimes a bit of the pop technique of hanging on to a consonant longer than a classical artist normally would shows an appreciation and understanding of the style. Still, there is never once a compromise of her vocal beauty.
